I have some mpg files created from VHS tape. When I import them to Encore, the result turns out OK; i.e., when play the file in Encore, no sync problems. However, when burn the disk, the audio and video are out of sync.
So apparently, the Encore burning process is the problem with an mpg file. Convert it to an mp4 file: no synch problems. Should I look for other DVD burning software, and if so, any suggestions?
Help!!
Thanks.
Encore actually works "best" with MPG files that are created according to the MPEG2-DVD export preset from Premiere Pro, which creates TWO files, one audio and one video that you combine on the Encore timeline
My best GUESS is that your "MPG from VHS" were created with a device that used a Variable Frame Rate, and when you convert to MP4 your output is the Constant Frame Rate that Encore needs
The drawback is that Encore then must convert a second time, to get to the correct MPEG2-DVD that is used

MPG is a wrapper, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing - For Windows Internet Explorer press the PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard, and then do CTRL-V to paste the screen print from the clipboard into a forum message

- when you analyze your file in MediaInfo and post a screen shot in the forum, do so in TREE view

If you are the John Smith that I recognize from a long time ago, then you must be getting near my age (I have stopped aging).
I tried to work out the solution you suggested, but quickly became confused (you just wait!), and gave up. So I think I'll just bite the bullet and convert all of these "mpg wrapper files" to mp4, (whatever that is), because they work perfectly. (There was some discussion some years ago on the forum about Encore working best with "mp4," and that seems to be the case for my problems.)
Anyway, thanks very much for your interest; watch out for the time wrapper!

Somewhat dated now, but still some good information

Could be... just looked in my computer history file, and my first editing computer was a pre-built Alienware that I bought January 2002 with a bundled Pinnacle DV500 capture card and the OLD Premiere 6 (really old... not CS6)
I joined the Adobe forums soon after my computer was delivered... and I've had the same email address and Adobe account since then
