Bug: Using Export Frame on clips with proxies (even if proxies not toggled), results in low res JPG

Explorer ,
Jan 24, 2023 Jan 24, 2023
Using Export Frame on any clip with a proxy attached (even if proxies not active) results in JPGs and PNGs in the proxy-resolution. This seems to happen at random.

During some troubleshooting, oddly it seemed to matter which window (ie Program, Timeline, etc..) was active (highlighted in blue) but this actually reversed between different projects, and ultimately using Export Frame results in low-res and full-res frame grabs at random.

Clips that don't have proxies don't seem to have this issue.

Native media in my examples were .mxf and .mp4

Hello @mberna,

Thanks for the message. It’s been a long time since you filed this bug. I apologize for the lack of a response. Are you still having this issue? It looks like a dev marked this bug as "Started," so I'm wondering.

I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.

Thanks,

Kevin

Same thing happening to me as well. If I detach the proxy, I get a full res image, but with the proxies even disabled, I still get the low res image capture.

I thought TIFF export worked ok, I was wrong. I seriously don't have time for this. I have weekly projects that have around 50 grabs each, these all need to be checked and re-shot now. Its adding hours to my workflow. Cant disable proxies as the Sony footage is too clunky to scrub through. Im now doing the export it twice technique - seems to get one of them right, but then the time taken to compare each grab to find the right one is ridiculous - please fix

Same here.

Nick Johnson: „(...) so frustrating to be dependent on software where I need to constantly be double checking that fundamental features are working correctly.“

That's exactly how I've felt since I had to switch from Avid to Premiere three years ago. So many bugs in basic functions - always surprising.

Still an issue here. Proxy watermark is showing and low res image gets saved in both TIFF and JPG when Proxies are toggled off. This happened to me during my last project as well. Not okay. This needs attentions ASAP.

Still experiencing this issue like many others. When proxies are attached (but not enabled in the program monitor), any export frame command results in proxy-resolution frame grabs. I toggle the Proxy Button on and off in the Program Monitor and sometimes can get a full-resolution export frame, but it seems random. Have tried JPG, PNG, TIFF to all the same result. Would love to see this fixed!

Wow, this just happened to me to and I was freaking out that somehow proxies were being used in some of the video exports. As long as it's only photos, not a huge deal for me, but a pain for sure.

Seriously Adobe!????
I am also freaking out. Frame exports are always Proxies now. Seen this bug in earlier versions, and it occured randomly. Now it occurs always, when using proxies in a project, no matter if they are turned on or off!!!

FIX this ASAP!!

Tried to workaround by using CTRL+M to export JPGS, but know what? The Marker in the export Window doesnt move to the playhead position anymore.
Why is that??

There is no way to export High Quality Frame Grabs at the moment in a reasonable workflow way, without loosing tons of times.

Can´t believe that.
