can not select a clip when track expanded

Explorer ,
Jun 13, 2023 Jun 13, 2023
Windows Premiere 2022 22.6.4 build 2 and 2023 build 23.4.0 build 56, 2023 23.6.0 beta build 19
I was working in this project ok, and then it started doing this. I can not select a clip unless the track is minimized. i can not right click the clip either. i can go to another sequence and i can select clips fine. closed and opened premiere. restarted pc. tried in 3 different premiere versions. I have already reset workspace.

pattern found in 22: If I minimize all tracks, select a clip, expand all tracks, I can then sometimes select one clip, or right click one clip.. Sometimes I have to click one or 2 clips for it to work. but after one works but I can not click again to select a different clip on any track.

pattern found in 23 beta: If I minimize all tracks, select a clip, expand all tracks, I can then select one clip, or right click one clip. but I can not click again to select a different clip on any track.

ive added my project file, the one named 20230401 Oliver.downgraded_2022-2023-06-12_23-09-04 is a backup from yesterday where clip select works successfully.

the one labeled 20230401 Oliver.downgraded_2022 is my most recent one where clip selection is not working as described above

Radial Monster,

Only this one sequence is affected? Very odd. And multiple versions!

Duplicate the sequence. Any difference?

I would try creating a new project and import the problem sequence.

Resetting the workspace was a good try.

Resetting preferences would make sense, and particularly media cache, but I'd try everything else first.

created new project, dragged the sequence from real project to test project, opened in timeline, same issue

opened premire holding shift, select yes to reset, same issue

deleted all media cache files, same issue

Try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/...

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver)

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

#Solved! Apparently you can not select a clip when the track Show Keyframes has been set to Track Keyframes (volmue or mute) or Track Panner. Setting the Show Keyframes to Clip Keyframes allows you to select the clip. This was driving me crazy thinking something happened causing premiere to not allow me to select clips any longer, it was because i had set it to Track Keyframes. And it was allowing me to select minimized tracks because that doesnt show the keyframes.
