Can't Add Text in Premiere Pro?

When I go to add text to my project nothing happens.

I've tried using the Type Tool and click directly on the Program screen. Nothing happens.

Tried going to Graphics > New Layer > Text and nothing happens.

Have quit and re-opened the application.

Tried restarting my computer.

Did the latest update.

Uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere Pro.

None of that has helped.

Is there some weird thing I have done by accident that's affecting me adding text?

Please help! 🙂

Were you ever able to add text?

let's try something.  create a new sequence with your desired settings.  You can create a sequence from a clip, but delete the clip once the sequence is in the timeline.  choose the text tool and click in the program monitor and type a word or 2.    Do you see anything?  Is a graphics clip created in the timeline?  If so, select the clip and go to the effects controls.  Do you see a text layer and does it's name reflect the text you typed in?  Since you've typed over emptiness, make sure the fill layer for the text is white...    I'm just guessing at stuff, but please try each step and let us know what if anything happens.

Tried all of this. Nothing. Text seems to be disabled, suddenly. Also tried restarting Premiere. Nothing. So annoying!

I have this same problem, four years and who knows how many versions later. Surely there must be a solution?
