Just finished doing some color grading, went back to edit panel to shuffle some clips, now I can't get back into color panel without Premiere crashing. I've tried everything I can think of, muting all effects so it's just back to raw footage, deleted the cache, etc.

Hi, please try to update your Graphics Card to the latest version.

can you share your platform specs ?

I tried using lumetri then switching back to edit and applied color effects etc ... nothing wrong

If you can provide more info to be able to help you better it would be great, but my first

feeling is that it is a GPU problem

Same here, everytime I click the color panel tab it completely freezes the program to the point I have to go into task manager (windows 10) and force close the program. It isn't your GPU, I have a gtx 1070 that is completely up to date and has no issues , many are reporting this issue . It's always something new that breaks after an update. Da Vinci resolve here I come!

I don't think Home edition will handle all of premiere's capabilities,

I tried on my Windows 7 'Ultimate' with service pack 1, switching between

color and other panels, no issues.. i guess better to stick with 'Ultimate' or 'Enterprise'

versions of Windows

It's never ever been an issue until this latest update. , No disrespect intended but that really makes no sense.

The version of Windows has nothing to do with it. As long as you are using Windows 7 or newer you are fine. I am having this same issue. Lots of people are reporting it. I have tried EVERYTHING suggested in the other threads too. I am running Windows 10 professional by the way just in case anyone is wondering. I have i7, 16gb ram. SSD HD, and a gtx1070. Everything is up to date and running fine. Everything but Premiere.

You are having issues with it also. I'm running the 1070, maybe the issue is with Adobe and the gtx 1070. I rolled back to 2017 version for now, no issues, but yeah not happy.

Adobe? Any clue? Give us an answer. Premiere is clearly broken for many people right now. Especially the color panel.

I don't think it is anything with the video card. I think Premiere is just broken. Other people are reporting the same issue in other threads and are using different configurations. Hope they get it figured out soon.

Right now my work around is to edit the video how i want it and get everything in place. SAVE. Then go to the color tab and do all my coloring to the whole project. SAVE. Then export. If you go back to any other tab after you have clicked on color tab and then try to go back to color is when it crashes.

Yes, a nice professional way for us to have to approach editing a video. It's unbelievable isn't it.

Hi KyleT,

May have something to do with your NVIDIA GPU. Have you tried software only mode in Project Settings as a test? Let us know if that worked.

Thanks,
Kevin

'the version of windows has nothing to do with it'

yes it has to do, in some cases, most cases, you need Windows 7 with service pack 1

better have the professional or ultimate editions of windows, having the home edition

work for some and some others not, does not justify leaning on windows home for professional work

now for this specific case, windows version might not be the problem, and trashing preferences might solve the issue

You misread my comment. In this particular case the version of Windows had nothing to do with it. How do I know you might ask? Because I have multiple versions that I have tried it on and I get the same error. My production machine is running Windows 10 pro. And I get the same color tab error every one else is getting. I've tried this on a Windows 7 machine and windows 8 machine and same issue.

Hi JimmyM,

Still experiencing this issue? Let us know. Give more info, though, media type, OS, RAM, GPU, and other system info would help.

Thanks,
Kevin

I have had this happen as well. The solution that worked for me:

1. Go to C:\User\<username>\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro 12\Profile -<your name or something like that>\Layouts

DELETE the Layouts folder.

2. ReBOOT.

3. Relaunch PrPro, and see if that works better.

This is not my solution, but that of Neil Haugen. See: https://forums.adobe.com/message/10300190#10300190
