I'm attempting to add closed captioning to a video. I create a new caption file, drag it to the sequence, and I can see the "Type Caption Text Here" as a caption in the program monitor and I can see the same text in the caption file in the sequence but there isn't anything in the Captions window where I would add and edit text. I can right click and add on the caption in the track on my sequence but not in the Captions window and I can't edit any of them.
I've tried rebooting and restarting. I've tried double clicking on the CC in the sequence and the program
Premiere Pro CC 2017, with latest updates as of this posting.

Hi Michael,
You are using the workspace "Captioning". Change the workspace to default "Editing", Reset to Saved Layout & test the Captions panel.
Please let us know the status.
Thanks,
Vidya Sagar.

The problem worked itself out before I had a chance to read your reply. I ended up captioning this video in Youtube and then going back to work on another video for a while. I eventually came back to this video with the intention of importing the .srt file from Youtube back in to the Premiere project but couldn't and so had to re-caption in Premier. At that point it started working. I had switched back and forth between editing and Captioning workspaces a few times during my process, so maybe that did it. I can't say for sure.
Your response seems to imply that I shouldn't be using the "Captioning" workspace to create and edit captions? Or was that suggestion just for troubleshooting?
