Closed Captions for iTunes - What's the skinny?

We're looking at a couple of new projects, and whilst mostly this is pretty straightforward (one DVD, One Blu-ray & one iTunes Video per project) it turns out that iTunes will simply not touch anything that does not have closed captions, even with something so unsuited as a live concert video - so whilst sending this to a specialist lab is on the table I would rather not if I can avoid it.

So I see that the AME can happily create the correct type of video output - this is all good.

What I would be really grateful to learn is what the correct input document/script would be formatted like assuming a native frame rate of 23.98fps. If anyone can enlighten me, that would be wonderful as I need to let the Project Manager know ASAP whether or not we can handle this, or if it will instead need to go to a specialist lab instead.

Thanks in advance for any help - ideally, a sample script in whatever the correct form is would be awesome. I could then supply this & the transcription team can do the rest ready for importing into PPro

Is this simply not possible, or is it just that nobody knows?

The second option, for me.  I have thankfully never had to deal with CC, and never will deal with Apple.

So nobody knows how to import a script and in what form for CC in Premiere?

I had no idea it was so difficult - we have an audio transcriber on standby but still don't know what to tell them yet.

While I've never had to do it, what I've gathered from reading the forums is that creating CCs is a manual process.  You create every "title", type out the words, and line it up in the sequence, one at a time.
