Hey guys,

Screen Shot 2016-11-30 at 11.42.43 AM.png

Been trying to troubleshoot this problem for a couple days now. I run PPCC17 on my Mac just for simple editing of video gaming clips<1 min in length. As of two days ago - my computer will just completely shutdown immediately and not allow to be restarted for a couple minutes (after switching outlets) when I am trying to do anything I would consider 'intense' in the program. It seems to happen when I import more than one clip, am scrubbing too much, or try to drag more than one clip into a sequence. I set the rendering to 'mercury playback only' like some had suggested previously. I have also tried to render everything while I'm working...it will still shut down. I am a complete novice in video editing and this program but have 'Youtube' just basic stuff to create content. Anyone have any clue as to why it seemingly only happens with this program? Hardware problem? Specs above.

Not sure why your system is crashing, but you should delete the cache files. Don't delete them from the Preferences  panel.  Go to finder and delete them there. This is a good thing to do whenever your system is misbehaving, as yours clearly is.  Also delete the preferences.

Thank you so much for the reply. I'm new to Mac so I'm really not sure where I should be looking to delete those.

Hi Jsizemore,

Please try the following steps,

1. As Luisa Winters stated, Clear the Media Cache manually.

Instructions: FAQ: How to clean media cache files

2. Install latest CUDA driver for Nvidia graphics card.

CUDA Drivers for MAC Archive | NVIDIA

3. Set the Renderer to Mercury Playback engine GPU Acceleration(CUDA).

File > Project Settings > General > Renderer.

If issue persists,

4. Create a new Administrator account in Mac, Login to new account & try to recreate the issue.

If issue persists,

5. Perform a Clean Uninstall & reinstall of Creative cloud applications.

Instructions: Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Please let us know the status.

Thanks,

Vidya Sagar.
