Crashing for no good reason

Pre Pro crashes if I try to render more than a few seconds of the timeline, even if there's only 1 clip in the timeline. Also it also crashes if I try to input too long a clip to the timeline. It never used to do this. What is wrong?  3840x2160 50p ProRes

OS/CPU/RAM/GPU, GPU driver number; the number and type of drives used, and how much free space is available on them; specific details of the media in use and what created it; any 3rd-party apps touching the media, or plugins used; any effects used.

Intel (R) core (TM) i9-14900K 3.2 GHz

96GB RAM (95.7 GB usable)

64-bit operating system, X64-based processor

storage 9.14TB which is Crucial 4TB  69.7GB free and Samsung 4TB  723GB free and C 1.86TB  1.5TB free

media is ProRes 422HQ 3840x2160 50p filmed on a Canon xf405 camera

It also crashes if you just move the cursor along the timeline with many clips in it.
