Hi,
I don’t have the option to download the previous version (2023) through the Creative Cloud. How can I download it, or where can I find a direct link to install it instead of using the Creative Cloud app?
Thanks

ALL versions off v23 are no longer available for me, including v23.6.8. This is what I'd expect as Adobe said a while ago that only the current version, (and all of its point releases) and the previous one, (and all of its point releases), would be directly available. When this thread was started in June last year all of the v23 releases should have still been available, but that is no longer the case.

That is indeed what Adobe said, and has done for the most part. However...

Although the published Adobe policy is to provide support and installation for only the current major version and one back, they do sometimes make exceptions. For example, although Photoshop should only offer the current version 25 and 24, on my Mac it also offers 22.2. I think what I read in the Photoshop forum is version 22.2 is still available because of special customer demand for a specific function that was removed (I think it was the old 3D features).
I don’t know why Premiere Pro 23.6.8 is still offered on some systems (I don’t see it on my Mac), but that also might be about accommodating a very specific need that certain customers require and which isn’t available in the current version?

Yes, the Capture function has been removed on version 24. One of the main services I offer in my small business is converting tape-based analog and digital audio / video to digital files, then editing and restoration. Many of us loyal Adobe users who have been paying for years got screwed and no one cares. One day I will turn on my computer and my version 23.7 will have been suddenly disappeared. The same thing happened with Encore (which I used), and the Capture function when version 24 came out. No advanced warning...no alternatives. Just gone. Some of us don't matter I guess.

Did you find alternatives for capture function?
I used OBS (which is free) for that job, also there are AJA and Blackmagic capture cards that provide capture with their proprietary software (apps are free, but they require specific hardware).
Wish you luck finding right tool.

With version 25 out now, are there plans to make version 23 unavailable later this year? I use this app for video capture in my business, and prefer not to be surprised when I open my app to capture video, and it is no longer there. Bad for business...

I'm not Ann or Adobe, but Adobe has said they will keep access to the current year and a year prior in the CC desktop, ie: currently v25.x and 24.x. Right now 23.6.8 is still available at lesat on a PC, so get it while you can. 🙂

You are not me? 😉
Don't forget the Capture feature requires FireWire and most modern machines don't have FireWire installed.

Capture also uses SDI and composite analog if you have a Blackmagic Decklink or AJA video card

In the Creative Cloud Desktop app, you click the Hamburger/Pancake menu up top left. then: FILE-> Preferences.
Then click the Apps option on the left side and scroll down one tick and there is a toggle to Show Older Apps.
Then as above click the elipsis button on the Premiere Pro App option.

Very interesting. Are you on a PC? I've checked on a Mac and it only goes as far as 24.0, so maybe this is a Mac/PC or Intel/ARM thing. There's also no Show Older Apps option in Preferences. Compare my screen shot to yours. I can't scroll down any further in that menu.

That is interesting: 2023 might not even run on newer machines.

Yeah, Adobe sure made a mess for a number of professionals who need to capture legacy formats, that's for sure. It would not have been difficult to just leave the function available on newer software versions. It wasn't hurting anyone, and many users still need it. My monthy invoice always arrives on time however...

@AndyCollins I see the same thing when I open that tab, but I have to scroll down to reveal the Show Older Apps toggle. I don't see a scroll bar on your screenshot, is that right, you don't have the scroll bar on that tab?
Win11 23H2.
Maybe it's a PC/Mac thing?

@MyerPj Indeed, I have no scroll bar on that tab. Other tabs like General and Notifications have the scroll bar but not Apps.

Thanks @AndyCollins , well there it is. CC Desktop has some built in functions that show different options to different users. Perhaps a Win/Mac thing, or some other criteria enables or disables certain options.

I have similar - I can see older apps, but the oldest version available is the 24 version.

I actually found the solution to this problem in a video on YouTube. It was really helpful and explained everything step by step. here you go:

Yes, I was able to download and run.
Also a good reason to keep older PP versions when we upgrade.
Right now I'm capturing around 50 MiniDV, Hi8 and VHS.

By contacting costumer support I was also able to get the link to version 2023.0.0. However, there is no way to update it to the lastest 2023.6.xx version as there is not update option on the creative cloud nor can they share a download link for any updates. SHAME on Adobe!

It is completely unacceptable that Adobe removes prior versions of any of their apps, in my case Adobe Premiere 2023, as sometimes these are the only versions that their paying costumer can use, be it for hardware related issues (like older machines) or project related (projects no more than a year and a half old). By contacting costumer support I was able to get version 23.0.0 but no access to updates for this version which seems to went as far as 23.6.xx. So, I would appreciate if back-end was contacted and a link was shared so that I could install the latest 2023 update or it latest version.
I remain a hands-tied paying costumer who cannot work on its current project.
