exposure goes through the roof when i move to timeline

I am not sure what is happing but I have footage from the same source all doing the same thing. The raw footage on my laptop is completely fine no issues. Importing the footage and watching on the source tab is fine to but as soon as I move the footage to the timeline the exposure goes through the roof. I have tried to mess with the brightness and contrast settings but it does not seem to help. it only make the footage look extra weird.

I have other footage from another sources that are completely fine and I have no issues with. Could it be because I am on a windows and the videos cam from an iphone? or that I got them off of a google drive? Do I need to import the footage differently? Is there something I can do effects wise that I have not tried?

This is happening with all of my iPhone 13 footage now… I think you have to right click the clip in the browser then go to 'interpret' and then change the color space. I think certain types of HDR footage act screwy in the new Adobe versions/ timelines.

Take a look at this video to understand what has changed in Premiere's color science and how it treats your footage.

They completely rebuilt the underlying color from a Rec.709-specific basis to agnostic (I guess you could call it) with the Pr2022 release. And yes, that included changes in the default behaviors. And there's some unexpected things still happening even according to the engineers.

So yes, read up on it. Although Peru Bob included a link to one of my FAQs on this forum about it, where I go through what changed and how to work within the new process, there's another on how to monitor for HDR work at this time, which has also changed, So I'll list both.
