FAQ: Why do large H.264 Files from OBS Fail to Import?

Hi Everyone,

It appears that the gaming and streaming community has happened upon an annoying issue related to Premiere Pro (14.0-14.0.4). Upon importing footage recorded from the OBS application, the computer will hang. The hang can persist for some time, and users tend to Force Quit the application. That said, if you do wait long enough, the file will decode and you can then import it.

This seems to be a bug and we are working on a fix right now. Here are the workarounds we have found:

  • Allow extra time for the footage to decode. Although it seems like the program has crashed, it has not, it is just taking an inordinate time to decode.
  • Do the project in the previous version of the application.
  • Transcode the footage using Handbrake or ffmpeg.

We apologize for this annoying bug. Please file a bug so that the developers can take action.

Thanks,
Kevin
