FIX the bug of audio missing from export

Explorer ,
Jan 24, 2023 Jan 24, 2023
When exporting a video sequence premiere randomly leaves out part of the audio. Those part were not muted, but in the same channel and of the same kind of other parts exported fine, not even cut: so for instance you have a talker that randomly get the voice silent.
This is a big reliability issue, because there is no correspondence of what you have on timeline and what you are going to have on final export. This happens on different machines and happened also with previous versions of Premiere different from this one at moment of writing 15.4.1 (build 4).
The only reliably working workaround has been export only the single audio channels in wave files and then import it back into the timeline, that is time consuming and unacceptable for a professional software.

Hi @KinoKast,

Thanks for the version details. This issue was fixed in Premiere version 23.4. Please update your version from Creative Cloud and let us know how it goes there in the updated version. Sorry for not mentioning it earlier.

Happy to help, Mayjain

Just export it with a codec which uses a fixed bitrate. E.g. Quicktime with "Apple Prores 422 Proxy" will be a good choice. The problem deals with h264 codec and variable bitrate.

If you need to compress the final output, use the app "Handbrake" with h.264 and a fixed bitrate and a RF of 22, this will get a small size with mostly excellent quality of the video in the end.

Thank you. When will the problem be fixed? It affects my work immensely and takes up a lot of my time as I'm exporting large video files everyday. Encoding via Handbrake is a temporary solution, but it can't be permanent.

I guess it will never be fixed. The problem is that you seem to have footage with different variable bitrates (including audio and video tracks), so the codec does not know which bitrate to belong to and will always choose a wrong one for some clips. So the only solution ist to use the same frame rate for all footage or to use a fixed frame rate in editing.
And if you do so, Premiere is only set to export your film the best way, but not the best compression ... so do not expect any fix.

Thank you for your feedback. However, it is not because different clips with different bitrates. The videos in question are videos with 1 audio track, without a cut. (Online seminars). Therefore, it cannot be due to different bitrates of the material. Furthermore it's at every export a different part of audio, thats missing. Sometimes 5 Minutes in the middle of the exported clip, sometimes somewhere else 10 seconds. So it's super random. The only explanation I can give is that it is an export bug with the never version. I have been editing these videos for years and have never had any problems. 😞

It will always be a random part, which is missing.

It's about different videos with different audios. If these are already at a VBR there will always be a missmatch with h.264. As I said, do not expect any "bugfix". There will not be one.

This "bug" will also appear in any other compressing software using h.264 with VBR (Like VCL or Handbrake etc.). It maybe that there will not be any missing parts, but video and audio may be not synchronised (which is another way this mismatch will show up). So it always deals with VBR sources which do not match. And the only solution right now is: Take a CBR. Best

May not be fixed. I am all of a sudden getting this in 25.1.0. Audio is fine in edit mode, plays back at correct quality and volume, etc. Audio is selected as part of output as always, as this is a simple present for HD output. But audio is not getting exported. Not when exported directly from Premiere, not when using Media Encoder. No music, no voice. And doesn't matter if set to AAC or MP3.

I am on 25.4.0 (Build 99) and having this issue. I just restarted everything and part of the music clip was suddenly crossed out with diagonal bars, so I was able to figure out why music wasn't playing after the export but, I don't know why that had happened.

Hey Dan,

I read your case notes. When you see these diagonal lines, that indicates that you may have reconnected to a file with the same name. Do you think that is possible? Check that out and let me know. Sorry for the hassle.

Thanks,

Kevin

It's absolutely still happening with 23.4. I've been re-exporting for hours now, the same video, and trying all of the tricks in this thread.

Thankfully for me, it has been fine, but what I was doing was saving the aduio as an MP3, then dropping it on the timeline either muting all the other tracks of just soloing the one stereo track. Not efficient, but it worked and allowed me to get stuff out.

This issue is making work IMPOSSIBLE. Adobe, why do I need to download a beta build to fix an error on a stable version? This is ridiculous. Fix your stable builds for gods sake.

the easiest way to fix that is using "Render and Replace", you right-clicked the audio, and press the option, that makes another audiofile with that same part and doesnt need anything else. save all your time with that

After render it makes an empty waveform track with no sound (the sound is on channel 3).

Ok! I found a workaround.

You need to try different audio track layers. Some of them work properly and some of them are now disabled for some reason.

Mine worked when i placed the audios in the 5th and 6th tracks. Hope this helps!

Adobe you need to fix this bug ASAP!
