FIXED: Export issue for H.264 and HEVC with Premiere Pro 23.1

This issue has been fixed in Premiere Pro version 23.2.  Please update to get the fix.

We have identified a file name issue affecting H.264 and HEVC/H.265 exports on Windows with Premiere Pro 23.1

The issue impacts H.264 and HEVC/H.265 exports to folders with names that use double-byte characters, such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or extended ASCII characters, like accents and umlauts. Affected users will see this message: File importer detected an inconsistency in the file structure of %filename.mp4%. Reading and writing this file’s metadata (XMP) has been disabled.

If you are experiencing this issue, use one of these options:

• Please update to version 23.2 where the issue is fixed
• The following workarounds are for 23.1
  • Choose an export destination folder that uses only single-byte ASCII English characters (no accents, umlauts, etc.)
  • Export to a different format, such as Apple ProRes.
  • For H.264 exports only: disable hardware-accelerated encoding.

Having exactly the same problem, I'm really frustrated that every update it's coming with their own big bugs, I mean, it's not an issolate bug, it's an EXPORTING bug. How they evaluate a version that they publish?

So I found a workaround, because always the users have to go around the bugs to make it workeable. 

Exporting thru Media Encoder and you'll be fine, of course, more unnecesary steps if you want a quick export, gosh!

Para los hablantes en español, pude solucionarlo gracias a una respuesta en inglés que vi más arriba, basta con seleccionar "Solo software" en la configuración de Rendimiento en los ajustes de codificación (Los vemos en cuanto estamos intentando exportar). 

Si bien no es una solución definitiva, puede sacarnos de un apuro, pues la velocidad de renderizado y exportación se ven comprometidos al no ser apoyados por todo el hardware.

I did what you suggest. However, it did not work. So, I exported the project file to a different location (to destop) and it worked!

I solved this problem by creating a folder entirely in English and exporting it there.

헐, 그러고 보니 내보내기 폴더명이 영어일 때 잘 되다가, 바탕화면으로 내보내는 것으로 바꾸고부터 안 되었네요. 지금 영어 폴더로 바꾸어서 내보내고 있는데 잘 되겠죠? 이틀동안 문제 해결해보겠다고 삽질하다가 안 돼서, 다시 하루종일 편집해서 내보내는데 또 에러가 떠서 멘붕상태였는데요ㅠㅠ

Had the same problem today after updating premiere pro.

I had enough space on my computer (over 3TB of space available) so the solution did not work for me.

I had also recently changed the project settings on video rendering and playback from ''software only'' to ''GPU acceleration (CUDA)'' without any problem until the update.

What worked is the following : I changed my settings back to the renderer from File> Project Settings > General > Renderer > as Mercury Playback Engine Software Only and then I also had to change the setting on the Export > Video > Encoding Settings > Performance > Software Encoding. 

I hope that helps other people with the same issue that disk space wouldnt fix

If you have already worked a lot in the new version, it is no longer profitable to throw away the work to return... 😞

True, I make a lot of small projects so it doesn't really matter. Also, I
think that the problem was that most of my folders are in Greek, I don't
have issues with the older version but maybe if the characters was in Latin
I think the newest version will be fine. Which by the way is a problem that
has to be addressed by Adobe.

Now I'm struggling with a big project... a course of 9 lessons that totals ~16 hours... and I'm not giving it up... I have space on the HDD...
I'm going to try dividing it into one course = one project... maybe software export... I don't know... I'm looking for solutions.
And I think it's from the last update... 😞 and I've already worked over 10 days in the new version after the update...

I never tried it on premiere, but in other Adobe applications you can save
a project for older versions.
