Hi,
We are seeing solid green bars at the bottom 1/4th of the frame on 9x16 exports. This issue is only happening on our new Mac Studio and only with 9x16 exports. Exporting the same project from an older, Intel iMac does not cause this issue. We have recreated this issue with both Software and Hardware encoding in Media Encoder and directly out of Premiere. Is this a known issue? Is there a resolution beyond time-consuming workarounds?
More Detailed Specs...
Adobe Premiere 22.5
Mac OS 12.4
Mac Studio 2022 M1 Max
Footage format PR4444XQ, Sequence settings PR4444XQ, Export settings PR4444XQ
Hey @Kevin-Monahan We're working on a couple of the bigger tentpole titles right now, so I hadn't had time to test 23 and I am hesitant to move the projects over when we've been doing in 22, BUT...I did a quick test and it seem to be fine for 4444 and 422HQ exporting a 4x5 and 9x16 with a ton of AE exports on it. We're using teams, so I may convert our teams project to a project and export using 23 PP and ME. If this consitantly works, I'll just start using 23! Hopefully this thread will help

Typically it's a mismatch of Sequence settings to Export settings. You managed to open the problem project on an older machine, is that machine running 22.5?

The older machine is running 22.5. As best I know the settings matched but I'll keep an eye out.

It's a known bug in After Effects where the resolution is to go to Preferences > Output and disable "Enable ProRes hardware accelerated encoding, if available." Is this an After Effects Comp in Timeline?

Not an After Effects comp.

@Citizen_Sam
I'm sometimes on one of three different Adobe IDs (personal and two different employers) and completely forget to double-check how I'm logged into the forums..

In Premiere Pro, the equivalant preference is Preferences > Media > "Enable ProRes hardware accelerated encoding, if available."
Disable that and try again. I don't think that preference requires restarting Premiere Pro, but that may be worth doing as well.

I'll give it a try and see if I can recreate the error with that unchecked.

Having the same problem across 9x16 / 4x5 / 1x1 crops- and super slow exports / sending to media encoder.
Somethings not right in the latest update - the current Beta isnt any better

Sorry, Odobe,
I cannot reproduce this issue. Are you on macOS or Windows? What is the source footage? Can we get your system specs?
Thanks,
Kevin

4444 Pro Res on Mac OS on a new Studio M1 - 16x9 4k footage resized to 9x16 - I think that's the issue - but even nesting doesn't help - I did a teamviewer session with one of your support guys yesterday and we recreated the issue together - he said he would come back to me which was really helpful. I can DM you some screenshots but can't make them public. Appreciate the support i got yesterday though - was very thorough.

Sweet! I'm actually a user myself, not an Adobe guy. I'm the OP but I keep accidently logging in to the wrong Adobe account. I'd love to hear how you progress with this. Please keep me informed!

Having the same issues Odobe. My workaround as weird as it seems is to export all my 9x16 as ProRes 4444 XQ instesad of regular 4444. We're also doing 4x5 resizes and have to export that as regular 4444. On other projects, it's the opposite...4x5 as XQ and 9x16 4444. Give it a try if you're still having issues. And if anyone has actual answers, please let us know!

Hi billy,
Sorry for the issue. Can you tell me what kind of computer you are working with?
Thanks,
Kevin

@Kevin-Monahan I'm on a Macbook Pro 16" M1 Max. We have a workflow where we need to resize a ton of TV spots for social media in 4x5 and 9x16. It's all major studio work, so timelines are tight and there is a TON of work. My assistant is using an Intel machine and no issues whatsoever. We are using After Effects exports in Premiere, however this also happens in After Effects (the green bar bug). I can't even describe how frustrating it is to be up at 3:30AM trying to finish, and have to export 4444 XQ and 4444 when our final delivery is 422 HQ. SO I'm essentially having to export then transcode again in compressor. It's a nightmare. I got an M1 machine to speed up my workflow. I feel like it's the opposite now.

Oh man, sorry, Billy. Have you tried v. 23.0 yet, by chance? Can you also check the 23.1 Beta?

You're so welcome. I'm so glad the engineers could get a fix for this done.
Take Care,

@billyc9160 @Kevin-Monahan Thank you - just had it fail in 22 but looks like working in 23 - will move projects across in the same way as Billy suggests.

same issues here, 5 designers on Macbook pro's, 16", 2021, Monterey--all of us have the same problem. Purging the cache and closing and reopening AE fixes it for just one render of either 9x16 or 4x5, and then we have to purge, close and reopen to do the remaining size. Extremelly frustrating. We also work in TV, and need to create social versions of the 16x9 spots --- it causing us to be late with our deliverables

Having the same issue again today with 1x1 / 4x5 /9x16 - will try your workaround.

More of this today exporting 4444 from media encoder. Frustrating that you can't reliably send something to media encoder in a batch and not have it look like this...
