Hello folks, I've looked around for a good fix or guide, but I'm not having much luck finding what my problem exactly is? It seems like my render quality is significantly lower than what the source video is, and I'm not sure how to improve on it... and keep the quality I want, if that's even possible. I have included just a screen capture of my little export preview and of the source video. If anyone needs any more info to help figure out the problem, I'd be happy to share. Thanks again in advance.
The screengrab of the Export settings window is not representative of the export quality of the final file. The source file has a lot of hi-frequency detail which is very hard for any codec, not least H.264 to deal with
If you export in a hi-quality codec like ProResHQ, do you get the quality you're looking for? This is the first question to eliminate any scaling issues in Premiere.
If the ProRes is better, you can then put that file through Media Encoder, or alteranate encoders like Handbrake/Shutter Encoder to tweak your settings and data-rate.
I tried using the ProRes 422 HQ and don't really notice any difference. I'm on windows and can't really view the video without converting through the media encoder to something esle, and I'm not sure if converting it causes it to lose quality I also tried using DNxHD but still suffer the same issue. Sorry, I'm a tad inexpirienced with this sort of thing. I, watched some guides and they all recomended the H.264 format which is why I've been using it. though it's possible I could try recording in different quality in the future if this proves to be a lost cuase.
