I frequently nest 4K clips from my 1080 timeline so that I can apply effects properly to them. The problem is that the Nested sequence is a copy of the 1080 timeline settings. None of Adobes presets work for my 4K clips as the dimensions are 3840x2160 so I always have to use custom presets. Even though I have created custom sequence settings and have saved them (and the show up when I make a new sequence), when I try to load them onto Nested sequences they are not an option to choose. This leaves me with the tedious task of entering new sequence settings every time a nest a clip. Is there any way to fix this either by something built into Adobe, or by moving my custom preset files into an adobe folder that will then allow me to load them up when changes the settings of a nested clip?
Thank You!

Yes, that is how nests work. They inherit the properties of the sequence they are made on.

OK.

Sorry, don't understand this. You are nesting clips on a 1080 timeline and then want to change the nest to a different frame size? What are you accomplishing by doing this?
When you do manually change the the nested sequence, are the results what you expect?
I get that you are asking how to access your custom presets when making changes to Sequence Settings, but there may be other ways to do do what you want.

I'm not sure why you are trying to nest these, but if you want to apply something to the clip why not put the "4k" clip in a sequence of its size (drag the clip to the "new" icon in the project panel). Apply what you want and then drag the 4k sequence into your 1080 project and re-size as needed. That way you can have the full-size clip to adjust in your 1080 timeline?
Why are you needed a nested clip? Maybe there is a better workflow for you.

With something like Warp Stabilizer you are required to nest the 4K clips in order to apply the effect. Now I know that I can just apply the effect directly to the nested clip, but it typically works better to apply it to the clip in the nested sequence to utilize the 4K resolution instead of just putting it on the 1080 Nest. So that is why I nest the 4K and change the nested sequences properties to match the clip. Hope that all makes sense.
So is there anyway to use custom presets on an already created sequence or is the only way you can use your custom presents is when you create a new sequence from your project panel?

Not that I know of - maybe some one else does.
What has worked for me in this situation is to have a 2nd sequence that is set to 4K. I copy the clips I need to stabilize into the 4K sequence, add some handles, do the stabilization, then export the stabilized clip and import that clip back into Pro for use on the 1080p timeline.

Would you need the export? Can't you just use the 4k sequence as a clip in your 1080 timeline? If needed you could do a render and replace. Then if you needed to make changes you can just re-render without having to replace clips on your timeline.

Just did a test - Render and Replace does not work (it wants to re-stabilize), but editing the rendered clip in the 4K sequence into the 1080p sequence does work without the intermediate step of export/import.
Test to make sure this works for you.

I do not know of a way to do change the nested seq - however, if you do what I suggested you wouldn't need to.
