How to add an adjacent point to a mask without rotating it

When drawing a mask in premiere pro, if you try to add a new point too close to the previous point, it would rotate the entire mask slightly instead of adding a point. Zooming in closer doesn't help.

The only work around I know is to add a point far away, and then move the point closer.

Is there a better way?

That is what I do too.

Or zooming in while in full screen.
