How to Fix Video Preview Error

New Here ,
Aug 21, 2025 Aug 21, 2025

I apologize if this has been talked about somewhere else in the community, I've searched around and can't seem to find an answer for me.

I'm using Premiere Pro 2025 and I keep getting an error whenever I try to render my clips in a sequence. The error goes as followed:

Video Preview Error

Error compiling movie.

Export Error

Exporter returned bad result.

Writing with exporter: QuickTime

Writing to file: it's a file.

Around timecode: 00:00:00:00

Component: QuickTime of type Exporter

Selector: 17

Error code: 10

I wrote that all out in case some other poor soul does the same thing as me and writes out the selector and error code into Google.

I have reset my app preferences, cleared my cache, moved my clips around, restarted and started againg the app, I have gone to my sequence settings and tinkered with things there as others have advised elsewhere and nothing works

I can export the file just fine but what is so strange is that my coworker has shared with me a project and it renders just fine on my side. I've looked at his sequence and project settings and they don't look too far off from mine (yes, I have changed my settings to his and still nothing).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙂

Hi @gooberbeans - This issue is usually caused by an effect being applied in the wrong order during rendering. Could you share a screenshot of your timeline? If you’re working with a graphic that has an effect applied, try nesting the graphic first and then re apply the effect. You can also find more details in this article: order of effects

sorry for the trouble.

Hi @jamieclarke - I can do so but i don't think that will help much. There are no graphics or effects added onto the timeline. None of the clips are even edited as I just started fresh on another project to see if that would help.
