im sure i used to be able to select multiple clips in the timeline, and by dragging the end of one of them, they will all resize ,  but in v 2018 it seems to only resize one file.

when i click, alt, shift or other keys it doesnt seem to do it either.

This definitely a bug. I can reproduce this on 2018.

In 2017 it works as it should.

That's not normal.  Try Step 2f below.

ah, so im not going crazy after all

thanks Ann

it seems that the bug report form has no Premiere pro 2018 option, so i had to submit the report as a v2017 report.

The PR version is CC (12.0.0). I don't know why they changed the naming method, but they seem to like calling PR CC 2018, just plain PR CC. In any event, it is 12.0.0

The replies about using the ripple edit tool were correct but curt and somewhat unhelpful. Here is more detail (works in Premiere Pro 2018):

1. In timeline, select Ripple Edit Tool

2. Use leftclick+drag to select all the clips you want to uniformly transform the duration of. It actually selects the edit points (that is, the start and end of each clip) by making them yellow.

3. SHIFT+mousedrag one side of the selected bunch of clips.

See image below. (Side note: This whole thing is somewhat similar to how you would use the very useful "Transform Box" in After Effects after selecting multiple anchor points (keyframes) in the timeline's graph editor.)

Another way to change the duration to a bunch of images is to:

  • In the timeline
  • select all the desired clips
  • right-click on the clips and get the menu open
  • click on speed/duration
  • check the box "Ripple edit, Shifting Trailing Clips"
  • change duration to desired length.
  • click "ok"
