How to set to display one waveform instead of two?

I use Premiere Pro maybe once a month to edit small videos, and when I booted it back up again today I noticed my clip has two waveforms underneath it, one for each audio channel. I know (and just checked) that most of the clips I have worked with in the past have 2 audio channels in them but I don't remember it displaying both audio channels in separate waveforms on the timeline. I've searched online for an hour now and I'm not sure if I'm miss-remembering that it used to only display a single waveform (supposedly representing both audio channels or maybe just one of them). The way it is now I have to enlarge each audio track much more than I have screen real estate just to visually see my audio track (I find this very useful for finding certain sections of videos). Is there a setting to display only a single waveform per clip?

Right clic in clip in Project panel / Modify / Audio Channels... in Numbres of Audio Clips set 1 (do not change Clip Channel Format). Make it before to drag to the timeline.

It is already set to that. I should've uploaded an image the first time sorry.
The first image is how it currently is (and how it looks on every tutorial and video I can find). The second image (that I just photoshopped) is how I remember it (and makes it much easier for me to see what's going on). Even though the audio track will have two audio channels it only displays one (or possibly both mixed together). 
I know that I can just expand the waveforms to be able to see them better, but that requires twice as much space since there are two almost identical waveforms for each audio clip (I don't have enough screen real estate as soon as I overlay two separate audio clips, making things very difficult to see what's going on).

There is one channel, not two. This channel is one monophonic that sounds in both channels. But if you audio is just voice there's no problem because our voice is not stereo hahaha (unless it needs stereo).

I've wanted that feature a few times myself. You explained it well in the second post with the screenshot. 

User Voice is where the Adobe engineers look for bug reports, enhancement requests, etc. The urgency for bug reports or new features can be judged by how many of us users upvote the requests. You can search for similar requests using the search feature at the lower right. It's best to upvote a request that has some traction (votes) already, and you can upvote and reply to that thread. If you don't find one the matches your request, then enter a new one. Regardless, post a link back here so those seeing this thread can upvote also.

Here's a quick user voice search I did, but didn't find a specific post on addressing your request. So, you might look around a bit and if you don't find one, add a request.

I also want this feature. I record tutorials to post on YouTube using one cheap headset mic. So, there is no sense in wasting precious screen space on 2 identical waveforms. Every video I make (for the time being) will be mono.

User Voice is no longer used by Adobe, so now we post to this forum, with the topic set to "Idea". Then we upvote the (this) post. So far, the post had 1 upvote! 🙂 I made it 2 just now. You might search to forums for a post already on this topic, that has upvotes.

Otherwise, just start upvoting this thread at the top next to the subect of the post, top left in a browser.
