Hi all.
I have a mono wave audio file in my source monitor, with In and Out marked. I have the playhead parked in my timeline at the intended insertion point, and an audio track targeted. The audio track is empty at that point in the timeline (and is empty downstream).
Insert and Overwrite do nothing. The buttons under the source monitor and keyboard shortcuts don't work. If I drag the audio to the timeline it works fine.
Anybody know what's up here, before I file a bug on this? This seems like basic editing functionality broken in PPro CC 2017 on Mac.
Thanks!

Thanks, Jim.
That seems redundant. What's the point of having an entire additional set of target selectors in that leftmost column? We already have target selectors for each track; why not use them?

A good question for the design team.

I am having this exact same problem. I am so sick of Adobe, their expensive products, and these careless bugs. I cannot get Insert to work- yet it worked the last time I used this program.
Comma, the insert shortcut, does not work.
Any Answers?

If the track is not targeted insert or overwrite wont work.

If there's no sequence to insert and/or overwrite to, the keyboard shortcuts don't work.
So:
A) cmd + N on a Mac (or ctrl + N on a PC) to create a new sequence. Mark in and out points in the source panel, press comma (insert) or period (overwrite).
Or
B) Mark in and out points in the source panel. Drag and drop the selection from the source panel to the timeline. By doing so Premiere Pro automatically creates a sequence. Once a sequence is created you can use the keyboard shortcuts (comma and/or period).
Hope this helps.

Who said there was no sequence?

Hi Mobius Strip,
You're right. If there was no sequence there couldn't have been a targeted audio track to begin with. My bad. I'm learning as I go.
Was your issue solved by the way?
Cheers.

No problem; thanks for the reply.
No, I don't think the problem was solved. I ended up just doing everything the slow, drag-&-drop way because I didn't have time to research or inquire with Adobe as to why there are redundant target selectors on each track, some of which work sometimes and others not.
