for my drone clips, my preset lumetri color profile which has a lut added and some tweaks applied is not able to be reduced in intensity. Does anyone know why this is always greyed out? (see pic)

Hello, David

To turn on the Intensity, click the "Auto" button. If the Lut is applied and the settings are changed manually, the "Intensity" button remains faint; however, if the Auto button is selected and the intensity is changed, the other values are changed automatically. This describes how it works.

Thanks,

Suraj.

but by clicking auto I have no control over the settings I have dialed in? In fact, it removes them and just sets the picture up how it thinks I want it to look. What I want to do is to create the look I like manually and then dial down the intensity of that look as a whole using that slider. Is that not possible?

That is because you have a input lut applied first.

Any reason why you put a a7 lut on drone footage.

If you want to give your footage a certain look use creative luts.

Using the Input LUT slot in the Basic tab is problematic, unfortunately by design. LUTs are built for rather precise details ... dynamic range, contrast/contrast gradient, color, white point ... and if any are different on a file than what the LUT was built for, it screws up the image.

The problem with that Input LUT is that it is applied before any corrections in the Basic tab. From noted colorist/author/teacher Alexis Van Hurkman through every colorist I've ever heard through the application of LUTs in a Resolve node, this is ... bluntly ... WRONG. (And yes, I've discussed this both with Van Hurkman and with Adobe's chief color scientist. Who's ... thinking about it ... for about three years now ... )

You need to apply the LUT, then be able to trim the clip into/through the LUT. So with the LUT applied, you use the tonal/color controls applied before the LUT to match the clip data to what the LUT is built to work with.

For example, apply any LUT to a node in Resolve. Now, in that node, apply any color correction ... wheels, printer lights, HDR wheels, doesn't matter. That change is applied and processed mathematically before the LUT is applied to the data.

So in Lumetri, you are better served to apply any LUT in the Creative tab slot, where you can both trim the clip to fit the LUT using the Basic tab controls, which are processed first ... and ...you can adjust the intensity of the LUT on the clip.

Anyone doing much work in LUTs would be advised to get LUTCalc (PC) or Lattice (Mac) ... and you can build your own from choosing from LONG drop-down lists of options. And get superior, usable LUTs, that don't mangle your pixels  ... typically far better than manufacturer or YouTube sets.
