iPhone 15 Pro video won't even show in Premier Pro media browser

Folks...  35 year IT pro here, silicon valley engineer, not stupid on these things.

Just back from 2 weeks on safari, my GoPro 12 and Insta360 X4 video works great in Premier Pro 2025.  DSLR video import & editing in Premier ==> works great!  But I go to import the friggin .mov files from my iPhone 15 Pro and they won't even show up in the media browser.

Did not shoot in ProRes as I just wanted to do simple editing (clipping/sequencing/transitions/export) - was not expecting to have to color grade.

I've spent last hour searching online various forums, etc.  Tried installing QT 7.7.9, bought a 3rd party MOV player for $10, copying files to my C drive (they were already local, just moved from D to C), etc.  No joy.

How is it possible that in 2025 when Adobe has us collectively paying like $25/month or more for Premier Pro access  that it is not possible to ingest video natively on a basically brand new iPhone camera?  Are we not past the codec wars?

I am tearing my hair out here and looking for some assistance.  I do not want to transcode my video to import - that impacts quality and defeats the purpose.  Premier Pro 2025 should be natively capable of ingesting any iPhone video, period. I will cancel my subscription if this is not fixable.

There are several million daily users of Premiere Pro. Many of them use iPhone video in the app, whether they want to or have to as that's what they're given.

So it isn't that Premiere can't handle iPhone media, there's something off on your computer.

Troubleshooting always starts with adequate data ... OS/CPU/RAM/GPU/GPU driver; the nature of the media, in your case, the settings off the iPhone you made it to ... and the data from the files, framesize, framerate, color space. Also what is the drive you have them parked on in your computer.

Then we can sort it out.

OK, it was something to do with location.

I have a C, D and F drives all local.  C is SSD, D and F are spinners.

MOV files were in 2-level deep subdirectory on D.  Made a fresh copy each on C, D and F root and PR could find them just fine.  Made a 3-level deep new test subdirectory on D and tested a couple of MOVs at each level.  Again, no problem.

PR still can't see those same MOV files in the original 2-level deep subfolder on D.  But I'm moving on.  thx.
