Is it possible to enable already enable clips?

Hi

Enable and Unable seem to same function. I would like them also to be seperate functions. An ALL ON or ALL OFF function.

I would like to be able to select a bunch of clips and have them all become enabled even if some of them are already enabled. And vice versa.

Please note: I would rather enable/unable clips than use solo/mute, etc.

On a person note; the world seems to be full of on/off buttons. I believe it would be simpler to have two seperate buttons. One for off and one for on.

Select the clips (or just the video or audio part) in the timeline,

right click,

uncheck enable.

Clips will be turned off as you put it.

If you only select the audio you wont have any sound but you will still have an image.

Not sure if you want to turn off the entire clip or just the image or just the audio.

On a side note: i am not in favour of buttons.

contextual menus are far more easy.

The problem is if you have say half the clips enabled and the rest un-enabled if you select them all and click the enable button they just change state, you still only have half the clips enabled just the other way round.

When selecting a bunch of clips to disable, at the same time move them to a track higher.

PPro offers two ways to show/hide clips:

1) On individual clip basis

Each clip marked as Enable will show on the timeline. Use the context menu to individually switch them on or off. Selecting multiple clips and then using the Enable button will alternate the behavior. If they are visible, they will be hidden and vice versa.

2) On a track basis

All clips on a given track (e.g. v1, v2, v3, etc.) can be muted, using the eye

If you want to (temporarily) hide certain clips, the easiest way is to switch off a complete track and then place those clips on that track.

Thanks for your replies. I don't think anyone (except Richard M Knight) fully understood what I was trying to find out. So I will give a very simple example.

• I have two clips in my timeline.
• One is ENABLED. One is DISABLED.
• I would like to select them both and with one action ENABLE them both or DISABLE them both. Without using Solo/mute or show/hide or moving them to different tracks.

I'm sure this is probably not possible. If you can help please let me know.

Here is a real example of when I would need this feature:

I receive an audio mix

Edit in audio mix

Disable all other audio in one go - without having to manually check every tiny little audio track is off.

Export with confidence that only mixed audio will be exported.

I know this can be achieved by soloing the mix track (which I currently have to do). Soloing is not visually reassuring for me. It doesn't change the appearance of the timeline. Just that yellow square - the only difference between correct audio and a big disaster. I use solo as a temporary thing to just check something in the music or the VO, etc.

I see the post is old, but I have the same question. When work-in-progress I mute a lot of stuff instead of using time on audio mixing. But in the end I want to have it all enabled for mix. Enable all 1000 clips where 300 are unabled, gives me 700 unabled clips...

Here's a weird workaround.

1- Go to Sequence > Simplify sequence.

2- Check to disregard all disabled clips, this will create a copy of your sequence with the disabled clips deleted.

3- Go to your original sequence, select all clips and enable. This will invert all the "enabled" clips.

4- Copy the clips from the new simplified sequence.

5- Paste into the original sequence.

 You should now have all your clips enabled.
