Thanks for clarifying, Madyson. You are quite right - this appears to be a bug with the Opacity mask. I was able to recreate it on my end.

I recommend either of these two workarounds:

1. Crop Effect
    - Add the Crop effect to your layer.
    - Adjust the bottom crop.
    - Adjust the Edge Feather.

2. Alpha Adjust
    - Add the Alpha Adjust effect to your layer.
    - Tick Inverted and Invert Alpha.
    - Add a mask to this effect and adjust the Mask Feather.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Madyson,

Can you share a screenshot of your timeline and Effect Controls panel? This will help us better understand the issue you're experiencing with the mask always feathering on the right.

Cheers,
Paul

I'm having trouble understanding where the feathering issue is occurring. Could you share a screenshot and circle the area where the feathering is a problem?

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul, as you can see that right edge of the layer is feather far from the feather lines, but the left egde is still good. But the feather in bottom of the layer still working good. It happen with videos layer or image layer.

Tks you Paul.

That doesn't look like feathering to me - it looks like the frame edge of your image. Go to the Effect Controls panel and click the word 'Motion' – if you see a blue line alongside where the image cuts off, that means the image doesn't extend beyond that point.

If this is the case, you can scale up the image to fill that space, or if you have Photoshop, you may be able to use Generative AI to extend the frame edge.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul, i think that is an error of somthing like that

.screenshot_1719483316.pngscreenshot_1719483335.png

As you can see the left and right egde is difference, and this is a videos not image.

But the feather still work at the bottom of that layer very nice.

To feather the edge of the image, drag the side edges of the mask inwards. The inner dotted lines should be inside your background image.

Paul

Looks to me like an oversized feathered mask on a cropped or scaled down image.

Post full screenshots of Effect controls of all images involved.

I think that we are not really understand the problem.

Here the case: I have 3 layer and i want to cut out the bottom of the 3rd layer with a smooth feather. So i just draw a mask and make a nice feather right?

But here's the problem, when i make a mask it's always got feather on the right side of the layer, all i want if just cut and feather the bottom of the layer and keep left, right are still not cut out. So how can i do that in this case? error mask.pngerror.png

This didn't work for me. Any other solution? Will this bug be fixed in future versions?

Make sure your OS window scaling is 100% or at the recommended scaling.
