Hi! Kind of a beginner learning new things. I really don't know what i'm dealing with or how to handle it. Any information would be a huge help. I imported some audio with the following properties:
Type: Waveform Audio
File Size: 466.84 MB
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 24 bit - Mono
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Mono
Source image contains 4 channels of audio.
When I go to modify, it doesn't have normal left/right it has 4 channels and each waveform is slightly different.
I just want the dialogue to come out of my speakers evenly. When I mute everything but the best audio track I can hear that track in both speakers of my headset.
Would this mean the audio would come out across all speakers evenly when rendered? Or would it only come out of one speaker? Kinda lost in the weeds but trying to learn, any tips would be appreciated! Can someone help explain to me what i'm looking at and how best to achieve my goal? Thank you!

How is your sequence set to handle audio? Is the sequence Stereo or Mono? Click anywhere in the timeline and once the timeline is active, go to the menu Sequence > Sequence Settings and post a screen shot of your sequence settings.

Thank you for your help! Took a screen. Sequence settings is just based on a 4k video I pulled into the timeline before pulling in the audio. It looks like it set it to stereo.

Is there any update on this? I'm dealing with a similar issue.

Hello Ryan Krumm,
From the original information posted, the example audio is being handled this way:
- source media has 4 audio channels
- each audio channel appears as a mono clip in the timeline
- each of these mono clips is in a stereo track in the timeline
- a mono clip in a stereo track will be heard equally in left and right channels
- this will be the same while you monitor / edit and when you export (to a stereo file)
There are a few ways you could work with the original 4 channel audio. The way this is set up (if I've interpretted correctly) should be fine for most.
Let me know if you have other questions.
Unfortunately, while Premiere Pro is in many ways quite flexible with audio, in practice the interface and design are quite archaic and not user friendly. (I've written about this many times, one example).
R.

Thank you! I think that makes as much sense as it can. It's insane how convoluted this all is.
