I can't open the "Text" panel to edit my captions. I've tried Window > Text. And right clicking on the caption layer in the timeline and selecting "View in Text panel" but nothing happens. No window pops up. No new tab is opened. And I don't get a check mark by "Text" showing it's open.
Any solutions to getting this window open so I can better edit captions and (the reason I realized I don't have a Text panel) so I can export just an .srt? We used to be able to do this through File>Export>Caption, but that's not there anymore.
Working in Premiere version 15.0.0.
Thanks.
Any chance this applies to you?

I.e. do you have Digital Anarchy Transcriptive plugin?

This is an old thread, and simply resetting preferences does not really fix the issue. It will just come back.

YES! Thanks Stan. Transcriptive turned New World off, so I just had to turn it back on and now the "text" window works.

I am also having trouble with the Text window. How did you turn on New World? I am new to Adobe Premiere Pro and can't find it.

You can't "find" New World, really ... did you read the other thread? It's just their internal name for their transcript process.
What that other thread pointed out was that a Digital Anarchy plugin called Transcriptive that turned off parts of New World. So removing Transcriptive was the fix.
The Text panel has three tabs ... Transcript, Captions, Graphics.
What are you having trouble with?

What is the trouble you are having with the Text window?
"New World" is the new Adobe scripting, and it is on by default. Unless you had Transcriptive (plugin?) this was not an issue with the Text panel. This is not likely to be your problem. But let's see.
Neil, here's a post where Bruce describes New World:

Hi Sammy,
You can no longer disable this in current versions. Sorry about that.
Thanks,

My solution:
1) Quit Premiere
2) Navigate to: C:\Users\Start Beyond\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\<version>\Profile-<your User Profile> (WINDOWS)
3) Delete the Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs file
4) Restart Premiere.
5) Give yourself a high five because you're a problem solving MACHINE!

Same my friend! So odd. I just want to transcribe my video the same way I have done dozens of times before! Such a strange issue.

I'm having the same problem. I try to open "text" panel and nothing happens. I was also having trouble opening "Export" and the only way I can export a video is to send it to Media Encoder. I have reinstalled twice already, deleted preferences, everything. Idk what to do.
