Yesterday during an in-person meeting with a client, Adobe Premiere shut down “because it wasn't connected to the internet“ This is the first time I've encountered such a problem.
The response from Adobe technical support over the phone could not explain the conditions when the shutdown might occur (i.e not communicating with the servers for x number of days). The explanation was simply "it happens" and “everywhere has internet access.
“
However this is false premise, and one with larger implications - not only for professional location work. Many places in the world have limited internet access and it often correlates with restrictions on free speech and human rights.
Shifting responsibility for core access and functionality on third party actors like telecoms or governments severely impairs Adobe Premiere and makes it completely unreliable for professional work.
Adobe should strongly reconsider policies that deprive creative communities of access to tools of expression particulary when they have already been paid for.

This is a user to user forum so you're kinda "preaching to the choir", and not the folks that have any say on anything.
In fact, that decision is WAY above even the product teams for Adobe.
If you have an annual contract, you can go 90 days between logging into their CC system.
If you're a month to month subscriber, it's I think a bit under a month or something like that.

Neil, I appreciate the time you've taken to respond. According to the Adobe documentation you are correct. The offline functionality of Adobe Premiere yearly subscription seems to be around 90 days.
However our monthly subscription was offline a week (not at the beginning or end of the billing cycle) before it shut down due to lack of internet access.
If anyone knows accurately how long a monthly subscription can be off line, your contribution would also be appreciated.
Perhaps you are correct in your assertion that the ethical ramifications of this software limitation ore beyond the scope of a user to user forum. However, not to mix metaphors, but I’d argue that buying a vehicle that came an inaccurate gas gauge would be an appropriate topic of discussion for the unlucky owners of that car. Likewise, I'd hope that questioning both the accuracy and functionalit behind an obvious flaw in Adobe’s software might also meet the standard of pertinent discussion between users.

I wasn't saying you couldn't rant here, just that ... it ain't the place to get the direct answer to the question and problem you had.
They do have a CC Cloud forum for subcription/installation issues also and that would be the particular forum to ask in. Here, we can sympathize but there you can get a staffer to answer.

I know it's an old post. But I'm angry and I also need to rant.
I know there's a 30 day limit for no online access for monthly users. But I had to restart premiere pro because of a media cache issue within 3 days of my last login. And then it prompted a no Internet, can't verify your subscription status message when it reopened. Ridiculous.
