"Paste insert," when used at the beginning of a timeline, inserts a space at the 2nd edit point while overlaying the clip at the location of the cursor. "Paste Insert" seems to work as expected when the cursor is at any other point in the sequence.
Steps leading to bug-
1 command + c to select a section of video in a different sequence
2 move the cursor to the beginning of the sequence
3 shift + v (Paste Insert)
*edit seems only to be an issue if the copy is from a different sequence and if using an in-and-out selection (vs an entire clip)
What should have happened is that the clips is inserted, and the rest of the sequence ripples
what happens if a gap is created at the next edit point, and the clip is pasted without the insert at the location of the cursor?
(insert video here also not working)

As you see, I have V1 locked; I get the same result when it is unlocked.
PP25.0
Mac OS 14.7
iMac Pro 2017, Intel
I do use third-party plugins, but none are in play at the moment. (Red Giant, Excaliber, Motion Array, iZotope, waves)
I recently (yesterday) reset my settings and cleaned out the cache. I'm not usually an early adopter of new versions, but another editor started this so I opted to give it a try versus downgrading the project.

Thanks for posting all the info and recording.
I am not seeing a gap. But I do see an odd placement of the playhead. Are you seeing an actual gap between the pasted clip and the previous one? I'll test further, but want to be sure I am doing the same thing.
FYI, I'm Win 10 on PR 25.0.0.
I would help if you test on two simple sequences with just one clip each.

Hi @Kyle Kramb - I am not able to repro your issue, every time I paste-insert the video, it places the clip at the playhead position. It's hard to tell from your recording any other info. Are you working in a production? Can you share a screenshot or explain how you are copying from the other sequence? Is this project upgraded from a different version? Have you tried creating a new project just to test if you get the same results?
Can you double check your keyboard shortcuts paste insert for me is Command+Shift+V
You can also navigate to the effects panel and click the hamburger menu, at the bottom you will see manage effects. a dialog will open and you can disable all of your effects just to be rule that out.

@jamieclarke , I just tried to recreate it, but I can't do it either. I did not change any settings or update anything, so I'm going to attribute it to gremlins.
My shortcut is Shift+V (fewer fingers required). I use that shortcut constantly and the weirdness was only happening if the playhed was at the very start of the timeline (00:00:00:00)
I did notice that after I loaded my settings into 25.0 that some of the keyboard shortcuts that I mapped differently to the default had multiple key combos assigned to them which I can only imagine can cause a conflict. I believe I had fixed that before I made the video but insert paste was one of those shortcuts.
I was having some other starnge behaviors with that batch of footage. It was HEVC .mov codec and was not playing smoothly in PP even after I created low resolution proxies. I ran them through Res*lve to make Prores out of them which fixed that issue - even when I attached the original proxies. But that's for a different post I suspose.

Hi @Kyle Kramb - I'm glad those gremlins were scared away!
Please create a new post with your HEVC playback issues, you can tag me and we can start a new conversation. I'm very interested in this.
Thanks for troubleshooting and getting back to us.
