Hi There
I'm running Adobe Premiere CC 2018 on a MacPro 4.1 with 18GB of RAM under El Capitan OS X 10.11.6. (Graphic card is NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 1792 MB installed four years and a half ago with no issue whatsoever in all those years). Every time I try to import .MXF files from a Sony a6300 camera (Full HD files) it crashes and requires me to restart the app. I've tried importing .MXF files from other sony cameras and it crashes the same way. (Even files that were previously imported into Premiere for older projects).
What I've tried so far:
- Importing from different locations. IT DIDN'T WORK.
- Reparing disk permissions for all those location. IT DIDN'T WORK.
- Importing using the Media Browser, the Import File menu and dragging files from the finder. IT DIDN'T WORK.
- Moving back to Premiere CC 2017. IT DID WORK BUT I HOPE TO GET A BETTER SOLUTION.
My susupicion here is that Premiere somewhat twicked the import software and it's not stable enough yet.
I'd be glad if you could give me any suggestions. So far, I'll just go ahead and stay with the 2017 version but, honestly, I expect better from Adobe.
Best regards
Jaime
Hi Jaime,
Sorry about this annoying issue. The only thing that I can suggest is to switch your video renderer to Software Only mode (in Project Settings). Quadro FX 4800 is a legacy card and I suspect that your GPU is causing these crashes.
Thanks,
Kulpreet Singh
