Hi,
I updated to Premiere Pro CC 2018 yesterday, and have since have had multiple problems with the software. Most common, most times I try to "Drag Edge of Clip" (trim) to expand it in the timeline, I automatically get shut down.
My workaround has been to use the Razor tool to cut where I need to, but if I forget, I get shut down again.
Other than my workaround (or any other workarounds) is there a way to fix this so I won't crash as often.
Thanks!

Can't replicate this on a Win10 system ... what's your OS?
And ... is this a project from 2017 opened in 2018 and 'converted', or did you create a new project in 2018 and then import a duplicate the 2017 project file? I've found the latter process works more reliably and as I always go to the 'advanced options' section of the update dialog and uncheck the 'remove previous version' ... if there is a problem, I can just take off with the latest projects in the previous version and keep working.

I'm having the same issue.
It happens no matter if it is a new project created on premiere CC 2018 or converted from premiere CC 2017. And both Premiere CC 2017 and 2018 are having the same crashing behavior.
If you move any footage (audio, video, stills) to any timeline or if you drag some clip from a place to another within the timeline it crashes:
I'm not sure but it seems to me to be related to the GPU driver. I tried to uninstall and install all graphics cards drivers and it stops crashing for a while, however after a day it was crashing again, can't understand why.
Already tried to switch from GPU Mercury playback to CPU, create a brand new project, uninstall and install Premiere, clear media cache, nothing worked.
Also tried to open the same project on another computer, no crashes this time.

So unchecking the Project Settings/General option to use Mercury Acceleration/GPU ... and go to Software Only ... didn't fix it? But changing drives can at times for a day or so?

Exactly,
So it isn't GPU related (?)

Doesn't look or act like a GPU problem ... but can be alleviated by changing video drivers. That's an intriguing problem.
At this point, dump the cache and cache database files and any previews ... if you don't know where they are, check the Project settings dialog box and the Preferences box (File/Project and Edit/Preferences). After locating them on disc with the Explorer file manager in Windows, shut down PrPro, and manually empty those folders. If your previews are stored alongside original media, be very careful.
Then reboot, restart PrPro, and see if this works.

It didn't work Neil.
I just found out that if I disable the nvidia video card in Windows Device Manager it stops crashing. I hope it's a hint

In OpenCL and CUDA rendering modes, I also have crashes constantly when trimming (dragging) the ends of clips.
I suspect it has something to do with the two-up display that happens in the Program Monitor.
Using Software Only has fixed this for me. I am using macOS and GTX 1070 and latest CUDA/NVIDIA drivers.

Ok ... but ... odd. And the two here are different OS's, one PC, one Mac.
Yours is a PC laptop, and I know PrPro can at times be confused if there's both an onboard graphics chip and a full GPU installed on a laptop. Is there a way you can go into your BIOS and shut down the onboard so the only one working is the Nvidia GPU card?

Many people are seemingly having this issue — apparently it has come up in previous versions of Premiere Pro as well.

I've seen the other thread on this ... and for the total threads, number of people reporting it, that's not a large group "here". Which is only to put a rough 'sizing' on the number of affected folks percentage wise ... for anyone with this, it's a real pain.
And needs a remedy. Most certainly.
I do note that in the one thread referring to past problems, that user had resolved it by changing his custom workspaces, so there was an issue for that user where the custom workspaces he'd made were apparently corrupt. Which can happen. And after rebuilding his workspaces, he's not had the issue since.
If you're like me, you mostly work in custom workspaces ... have you tried rebuilding one and seeing if you still get the issue?

I am having the same problem and it is driving me nuts....so I noticed that if snapping is not on it works...this has been working for me for the last hour...so I think it could be an issue with the snapping being on when dragging a clip....

That's interesting ... and working in the Timeline panel, the shortcut to turn snapping on or off temporarily is holding down the Shift key. So ... with snapping turned off, if you hold down Shift to get a 'snap' ... does it go bonkers?

Methinks it could be far more widespread than you may believe. I posted to a bunch of forums that talked about 2018 crashing and identified quite a few replies by those who could identify they were having this same crash. In addition, it happens on both of our desktop work computers (Mac Pro and iMac).
It's a pretty generic bug that would go unreported or simply reported as "Premiere is unstable/Premiere crashes a lot/I am downgrading till they work this out".
However! I am finding a lot of success now with constant crashes by keeping my Metadata window closed. I have turned back on CUDA and am cutting successfully without beach balls or serious errors. It's made 2018 far more usable!
Could this be as simple as a Flawed Metadata panel?

I wonder ... have you filed this as a bug report? That additional info may be very informative.
I've forgotten if you posted your OS ... I've noted since High Sierra came out the number of odd occurrences for Mac users with that OS have spiked here, and mostly from those on that OS. However, there are some odd things with some Win10 users also.
What's weird on that later is a couple folks I know who've been stable on Win10/2018 for a month now, and ... getting odd behaviors in the last few days. No clue.

I've sent another Bug Report relaying my success with Metadata panel.
I am using macOS Sierra. I believe this issue is not limited to Mac based on anecdotal reports from this Forum and other threads.

There's some interesting oddities popping up. If you like weird stuff at work, of course.
Which I don't think most of us find all that amusing ... thankfully, I've not been hit yet.

On Windows 10:
I had the same problem and I think I got it fixed. At first I cleaned the cache data (on the software and on the drive C:\Users\your computername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common) then uninstalled the Adobe Premiere. Thereafter I updated the NVIDIA DRIVER (GXT 1050i), rebooted the PC and installed the software again. That worked! May be the same for Mac users.

It's February 2018 and I'm still having the same problem.
As soon as I start to drag anything, clips, effects, anything at all I get this error message and the program closes
