Premiere Pro: Import Workflow

• Import workflow for powerful computers (8th gen+ CPU, 8+ GB VRAM, 32+ GB RAM): Use the simple import process as described here. You may still want to create transcodes or proxies, for smoother editing.
• Import Workflow for weaker computers (6th gen or less CPU, 4 or less GB VRAM, 16 or less GB RAM):
  • Transcode or create Proxies on Ingest: create proxies or transcode on ingest for any H.264, HEVC footage that is 4K or greater. These files are easier to edit with. See also this article.
  • Do not use H.264 for proxies or transcodes. That codec is not very performant.
