Hi, I have been using Premiere Pro for 2-3 months now and have created several videos with no issues. Since yesterday, however, Premiere Pro does not respond to clicks in the timeline or in the menu. The main menu works fine and some other features can also be clicked on, but the timeline does not react to my clicks any more. It is no longer possible to work with the program. Importantly, if I open older projects they work just fine. If start a brand new project, it works fine at the beginning and after a few edits the same problem occurs. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Thanks, Ann. Interestingly, when I reset all preferences, the project works just fine in the beginning, but as soon as I make a few clicks and changes, the problem reoccurs. Very odd.

Adobe seems to have adapted a "let's kill the careers of the Indie content creators" with this new 2022 release. They singlehandedly destroyed everything we've built for our channel, and with all of the issues, we can't even get a new episode out anymore. I've been on the phone for over an hour with a Sr Tech Support and still nothing works. I upgraded to a brand new M1 pro machine. If the color works, the sound won't. If the sound works, then the color won't. It's a nightmare. The losses for our company financially and emotionally have been devastating.

It is completely mind-boggeling. I now installed Premiere Pro on a different system. Everything worked perfectly for about 20 minutes and I was really happy. Then, all of a sudden, the exact same problem occurred as on my PC. I am completely clueless why the software behaves like this. And on 2 completely different computers. I am no longer able to work with Premiere Pro. Can anyone help?

this has been my life for the past couple of months. Even Adober Sr Tech's aren't able to create a workaround that actually works. Sorry I can't offer any help on this, but I thought you'd appreciate knowing that you're not crazy and this is not the usual "user error" scenario. i'm sure at a granular level it's user error for all of our issues, but that's due to Adobe putting out a product that is not even remotely user friendly any more. I feel like I would have been better off using iMovie embedded on this new Mackbook Pro M1 Pro machine, than going through this nightmare with Adobe.
And a warning: if you use Productions, you're in for more of a world of pain, because all of the ingesting that many are suggesting to resolve this issue with mixed media is not available to any projects within a Production. And most Tier 1 Adobe tech help don't even know what an PR Production is? They assume we're talking generally using the word "Production" in its generic meaning.

Has anyone found anything out since?? I've been having this issue. At first it was weird and I thought maybe my PC was lagging out or whatever so after a hard reset it worked great for days. Now all of a sudden tonight I can't even switch tools, the keyboard starting to not work. Shortcuts aren't working and clicking anywhere in the timeline doesn't work. But I can click elsewhere just fine. But it's seconds after starting up and I've reset my pc twice now, I'm thinking about just totally wiping the thing and starting from scratch that's how annoying this is. I beat my mouse to a pulp with my finger clicking so aggressively cause that makes sense. But it's just so frustrating it makes me want to break my mouse that has nothing to do with it. Ya know what, I'll say it. Idc if they see this. I uninstalled premiere, downloaded a pirated version, and guess what same issue. So I'm at the end of my rope. I know this is 2 years after the fact but if anyone has found a solution. Or maybe a work around I'll gladly redownload my licensed copy lol

Same problem here. 2024 version... I was hoping to find a solution, but sadly its still open 😄 You can temporary solve it by unfcous the window (switching windows) and then go back into PP. That works for me, but it's annoying. Because when you are in the flow and then it again reacts on nothing its annoying... Hope this works for you and also hope someone finds a solution or Adobe brings an update for this

After looking at discussion pages on here and tying out a few different solutions, this seemed to work for me:
Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout
Did it in the morning and used it all day with no issue anymore.
