Hey Adobe, when are you planning to start supporting .braw (Blackmagic Design's new(ish) raw codec? Can't you hear the flow of users moving to Resolve...?

Hello adobe,
Is there any timeframe of when BRAW will be implemented in Premiere Pro / Media encoder?
As a professional editor I always got an interest in resolve and this might be the reason to switch altogether
Please let me know if you consider to bring this in any future update

Short answer: no, no timeframe.

As Ann comments in her reply, there is no timeframe. Adobe corporate doth not allow app development teams to publish expected "drop" times prior to release. I know from talking with the engineers at NAB this is something with a high priority and they are working on it, but ... as Ann, I've absolutely no clue when it will 'drop'.

Premiere doesnt regognize Braw files. Does someone knows how to convert those Braw files into .mov files so i can edit them in Premiere ?

Install below codecs and then check if it imports fine.
If not then you can use Media Encoder to convert the files as it should import in that.

If you have a camera that shoots BRAW chances are you also have the pro version of Davinci that came with that camera? You can also get the lite version for free.
You can open your BRAW files in Davinci and actually edit the raw files there. You can then export them as ProRes 444 from Davinci to import into Premiere... or just stay in Davinci and edit your project. Hopefully we'll get it eventually, but Adobe has made little indication that they will be supporting BRAW in the near future, so if you want to keep shooting in BRAW, you should brush up on your editing skills in Davinci, or just shoot ProRes 444 in-camera to save yourself the time if you want to continue editing in Premiere.

It's not funny. On September 14, BlackmagicDesign published a .braw format. September 21, they posted the SDK. On November 14, they posted updates and made braw player.
It has been 76 days since the SDK open access release.
What did Adobe do? Nothing!

Hi there, AndreySNK!
This is a really common request and we understand the importance of supporting BRAW footage! I'm not sure about the inner workings of the engineering team and I don't know exactly what they're working on at the moment, but I know that they check this page below to see what users want/need! You can see from the link that BRAW support is at the top of the list, which leads me to believe that they'll get to it as soon as they can.

Half a year has passed. And nothing new. It is very strange. It seems easier to leave Premiere and leave to work at Davinci.

If you go that way, I recommend using the following approach.
"Forget" what you know about editing and start "fresh" with the new software.
DaVinci Resolve 16 – Training | Blackmagic Design
In the end, it'll be less frustrating than constantly trying to compare the two.

they posted updates and made braw player.
In fairness to Adobe, even BMD hasn't made the Windows version of the BRAW player yet (which is the only version that really matters ).
New tech doesn't happen overnight.

It took Adobe a few releases to support the Canon Light raw codec as well, which was first introduced with the release of their C200.
Tech sometimes takes time and you cannot fault Adobe because it probably is the most codec agnostic piece of software in the entire industry!
Meanwhile, please figure out a way to use an intermediate codec. I'm positive that some future release soon will support this!

Tö whom it may concern,
How high up in the Adobe management do you need to
take the question wether you are going to support
Blackmagic Raw in Premiere/AfterEffects/MediaEncoder?

If enough users share your views, it might get added to a future product release. Owing to non-disclosure agreements, nobody can publicly discuss what Adobe is planning for the future until Adobe makes an official announcement.

Support Blackmagic RAW – Adobe video & audio apps
Back in Dec 2018, Adobe said in that discussion that they were looking into it. It was "Under Review". Don't think you'll get any more official feedback than that until Adobe are ready to make an announcement.

At NAB they said they were working on it. However they never announce something official until they "drop" the release it's in. So we won't know when it will be there until it is.
I went through aescripts.com and bought the Autokroma plugins for both Premiere and MediaEncoder. It works quite well actually. Wasn't gonna wait anymore I've got many gigs of BRAW media in process.

I filmed some footage on a BMD URSA Mini PRO in RAW 4:3 codec. When I tried to import it into PPro CC 2017 using media browser, it came up as 'Unsupported file type or damaged file' error. Everything I filmed using the ProRes codec imported fine. I didnt get a chance to film with RAW uncompressed..so not sure if that works or not. Does Premiere Pro support RAW DNG Files?
