Premiere Pro video not playing in source monitor after sync settings

Hi Gang.  My videos will play on a timeline but not in the source window.  I hear the audio but the video is frozen.  I can scrub the monitor and see the frames change.  I deleted my profile config from Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/9.0 and the videos WILL playback in the source monitor.  However, as soon as I sync my settings from CC, (to restore my custom keyboard shortcuts, etc.) the videos will no longer play in the Source monitor.

Am I missing something obvious here?  I can't seem to find the magic "don't screw up the monitor" button in the preferences.

Thanks

Hi Vidmachine,

It seems like the synced preferences with creative cloud are corrupted.

Try to uncheck the preferences & sync settings with creative cloud & test.

After deleting the Profile Config, Launch Premiere Pro, create a new project(donot open old project)

1. File > Sync Settings > Manage Sync Settings > Uncheck Preferences/Settings > Click OK

2. File > Sync Settings > Sync settings now.

3. Test the playback in source monitor.

Please let us know the status.

Thanks,

Vidya

I have exactly the same problem. My Source window is not playing video. I can see a still image and can scrub the audio. I tried unchecking the synced preferences. I had no Profile Config.

Any suggestions?

Hi Yinkamd,

Go to the following location in the machine

In Windows, C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\11.0 (Or)

In Mac, Documents > Adobe > Premiere Pro > 11.0

Rename the 11.0 folder to Old_11.0

Launch Premiere Pro, Create a new project(do not open Old projects) & check the issue.

Please let us know the status of the issue.

Thanks,

Vidya

I went to the closest this I could find on my pc

This Pc/OS_Install (C:)/Users/ethan/Documents

but in the documents file there is no Adobe file,

I've dealt with this problem once before by handing control of my computer over to you guys

But this really shouldn't be a recurring problem. So anything short of factory resetting my computer

do you have any other methods?

I am having the same problem but discovered it's only happening with subclips. I tried the suggestion given to Vidmachine. That didn't work. I tried the suggestion for Yimkand. That works but I have about 30 hours that I've put into an existing project.  Starting a new file doesn't help. I have a deadline and need this fixed.

Hi donnac45797621,

Sorry for not explaining in detail. You don't have to start a new file. Please follow the steps.

1. Go to the following location in the machine

         In Windows, C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\11.0 (Or)

In Mac, Documents > Adobe > Premiere Pro > 11.0

2. Rename the 11.0 folder to Old_11.0

3. Launch Premiere Pro, Create a new project(do not open Old projects)

4. In Menu bar, Window > Workspace > Uncheck Import Workspace from Projects.

5. Open the old project & check the issue.

Please let us know the status of the issue.

Thanks,

Vidya

@vidya

Hey I've tried everything here, and NOTHING works..

My timeline is fine, everything runs smoothly but my source monitor is frozen solid.

I can scrub through and hear the audio but that's just about it.

Its honestly getting to the point where every time I open Premiere to edit a video

I'm finding myself having to use Youtube to find a tutorial to fix some new bug.

Thanks,

James

I looked all over every thread and my solution was holding alt down while opening premiere. It clears out and resets everything but it fixed everything.

@vidya

Thanks a lot. It solved my problem. Instead of rename I changed my path. And it's worked.
