Premiere UI freezing, "Main Thread Blocked for X seconds."

Hi, has anyone experienced anything similar?

I've been having this issue with a larger project (~100MB) that I upgraded from Premiere 14.x to Premiere 15.x.

The interface is super-laggy and freezes almost after any action (seeking, resizing windows, selecting text, etc.).

Every time the freeze happens, the console shows a new message, like this:

<708760> <MZ.MainThreadHangMonitor> <5> Main Thread Blocked for 7.13419 seconds.

I switched off Metal in the Project settings, but same thing happens.

The weird thing is that for other (smaller) projects I didn't experience any problems at all with upgrading them.

Came here to find solution to the same issue on a MacBook Pro 16" i9.  Beachball every couple of seconds and same error in console.
