Problems exporting sidecar .srt closed captions in Premiere Pro

Hi,

I have been trying to put closed captions on a timeline, and while some of the captions appear on the video, others appear and then disappear, and some do not appear at all.  They are all the same time of captions in the same captions track, with all enabled.  I cannot get them to work properly on the timeline and when I export a sample although the .srt sidecar file appears to be exported when the video plays, only the video and audio tracks play and the subtitles do not work.

Any suggestions much appreciated

regards

Adrienne

Hi SoulWater,

1. What is the source of the closed captions?

2. Are there multiple standard of Closed captions(CEA-708 or CEA-608)?

If there are multiple standard, it is not possible to display at a time in the Program Monitor or Export.

Hi Vidya,

The captions are CEA-708 only.  It is very strange as some of them appear on the screen and some do not, and some work initially and then disappear.  Also, they appear in different locations on the screen (left/middle etc) despite the fact that I formatted them all the same.

I have already checked all the links you suggested and nothing seems to help.

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks

Adrienne

Hi Adrienne,

and the subtitles do not work.

I thought you said you were working on closed captions, not open captions (subtitles). Which is it?

Have you also tried deleting any associated preview files?

Thanks,
Kevin

Closed captions.

And they still don't work.

Hi Adrienne,

Have you tried deleting any associated preview files? How are things working in a brand new project?

Thanks,

Kevin
