Proxy Toggle Button Changes Timeline

New Here ,
Jan 10, 2019 Jan 10, 2019

Hey everyone,

I've made proxies of all my clips and can confirm they are attached.

When I have the Toggle Proxies Button on the timeline plays perfectly. When I toggle this button to off the timeline glitches/repeats/brings in deleted footage.

When I export, the timeline exports the glitchy version.

I'd like to be able to export the version of the video I see in my timeline when the Toggle Proxies Button is on.

Any ideas on how to go about this?

Cheers,

Cody

This also happens to me.

When I toggle proxy mode on and edit, the edits come out smoothly.
When I revert back to high-res video (proxy mode off), the edits that I have removed return.

It's as if toggling proxy mode on was pointless as the edits don't come out the way it should.

If there's no way to fix it, would it be possible to export the proxy edits instead?

This is an indicator that your system isn't up to working with the High-Resolution footage, which is actually the point of the Proxy workflow.

Ideally, you'd have a more capable system that you can migrate the project to for finishing.

You can opt to take the High-Resolution footage offline (for example, copy it to a different storage location, very that it copied as expected, and then delete the files from the original location).  This will force Premiere Pro to use the attached Proxy files at all times, even during export.  However, you'll get messages about the missing High-Resolution footage when you open the project and when you export.  While it's not an ideal solution, you'll get what you're looking for.

For future projects, you could opt to just down-covert your High-Resolution source for editing, creating lower resolution copies that you use in Premiere Pro.

While I think Warren Heaton is right about the playback glitching being caused by inadequate system specs, I think the core of your problem may lie in your full-res media being mis-linked.

Select all the footage connected to proxies in your Project Window, then right click, go to Proxy, and click Reconnect Full Resolution Media. Then browse to find the original full-res files those clips belong to.

Yes, it could be that the High Resolution footage is offline; however, the missing footage dialog box would appear when the project is opened.

Certainly worth double-checking.

I don't think it's offline necessarily, just that maybe the timecodes aren't lining up? I've seen it happen when updating versions, even without proxies in the mix.
