Random error "You do not have write access to the directory where this project is located."

At least once a day I will get the error when I try to save a project that states, "You do not have write access to the directory where this project is located. Select 'Save As' from the file menu to save the project to a new location." Not sure why this is happening as it will be saving fine one moment and not working the next. Everytime I have simply ejected the drive and reconnected it and it starts working again. I have already gone into system settings and given premiere full disk access to everything, and I also have custom access under "sharing and premissions" on the drive so I don't think it's that either. Also, after this error occurs when I go to my drive it appears empty as all the folders and content are gone. But ejecting and reconnecting fixes that problem too. Is this a problem with the drive, or maybe my computer? I edit on a 2022 Mac Studio.

Since the drive appears empty when the error occurs, it's likely an issue with the drive - nothing to do with Premiere.

Try opening Disk Utility and running First Aid on the drive. You could also try some third-party disk checking software if you don't have any luck with Disk Utility.

Is it a USB powered external drive or does it use an external power supply?

If USB, the USB port may not be supplying enough power to it. Using a 'Y' adapter and the power of two USB ports may help.
