Render and replace settings not functional

The render and replace settings doesn't work as expected. The selction of the source is ignored and the preset is always selected.

Maybe I get the feature wrong but the manual states: "Source: Match the settings of the rendered media with the sequence settings, individual clip settings, or presets." When using "individual clips" or "sequence" it uses the selected preset every time (also the UI does nothing to show that the two following dropdown menus are bypassed when the named options are selected)

It happens on both Windows and Mac and with the newest version of Premiere (23.1.0 Build 86)

Hi @BibbidiBobbidiBob,

Thanks for the note. I could not reproduce your issue, however, if I'm not incorrect, the feature has been updated since you filed here. Are you still having the problem? Let the developers know with additional information. How do I write a bug report?

I hope we can assist you with this problem.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

thanks for your reply.

I'm not entirely sure what I was doing back then but I guess I didn't understand the (limitations of this) feature.

Let me explain, what I thought, Render and Replace would do when "individual clips" is selected.
I thought, Premiere would take the clips original format and codec and not only its resolution and framerate.

This would be a nice additional option.

This is where the confusion came from. I wanted to export multiple clips as mp4 if I remember correctly.

So yes, I can confirm the feature works as expected.

When I didn't know, you're also able to import h264 presets, not only MXF and Quicktime (the default lists looks like you are restricted to MXF and Quicktime), I hoped, I could just batch create subclips but when I select multiple clips in the timeline, creating subclips is disabled in the menus (maybe another feature request?).

One thing would be very helpful though:

The ability to remove presets from the list. There is a folder path where you can delete it (c:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\25.0\Profile-[User]\Settings\Consolidate And Transcode Presets\) but it would be much more user friendly to be able to do this directly in Premiere e.g. with a cross in the list.

A little mockup of that idea:

Have a nice day,

Robert
