Sequences, when inserted via API, will always be nested.

If you want individual clips, insert clips from their actual source media, and to the correct track.

You don't need any workaround; I just described exactly how to accomplish what you've described.

If you want to copy individual clips from SeqA to SeqB:

  • Get source projectItem, and media timing information, from the trackItem in SeqA
  • Using the source projectItem, insert a new trackItem into SeqB, with correct timing information.

Hey Bruce - let's say you were trying to preserve the individual parameters, effects, ect. on a sequence that had a lot of work done on it - pulling from the source media directly would essentially be resetting all of it, right?

Inserting as individual clips via API would allow for non-destructive reorganizing of existing edits. If you have any other knowledge about how to accomplish this I'd be very interested, and would be truly grateful to get any momentum towards inserting as individual clips via API when referencing a sequence object.

Right!

We understand why you'd want further control (insert as nested, or not); all API feature requests are paused until we get UXP extensibility to parity with what was possible, via ExtendScript.
