Search function not working on some Macs in a Production

We're running into a thing on a Premiere Production where, when some of us type something in the Search bar in a bin/project in the production, the search doesn't work. Ex. typing in "S0775" (our archival number) brings up that clip in the project on my Mac, but not on my colleagues' Macs.
 
We're currently on Premiere 2024 (planning to upgrade to 2025). My colleagues are in NYC and using Jump Desktop to remote in. I'm in L.A. and not Jumping in.

Thanks for the question. I think I understand the problem. 

 

You might be running into a pretty common Premiere Productions issue. If projects or clips were brought into your Production from outside (instead of being created within the Production), Premiere Pro may lose track of their source association. This usually causes search bugs and trouble with linking and searching for clips, and it’s more likely the root cause than remote access tools like Jump Desktop.

 

You know, Premiere Pro has a command called Edit > Reassociate Source Clips. Select the timeline clips that aren’t working, run this command, and point it to the project that contains your master/source clips. You may need to do this for each project containing sources. This can restore correct associations and may get your searches working again. Always back up your Production before making big changes, just in case.

Thanks again for your help, Kevin. If the Source Clips have gotten un-associated, would the search function work on my not-remote Mac (as it does) while not working on the remote Macs?

I’ve run into this bug a few times as well — it can happen with both single projects and Productions.

Workaround for Productions:

  1. Go to Window > Workspaces and make sure Import Workspaces from Project is disabled.
  2. Close the project.
  3. In the Production panel, rename the project to something else.
  4. Reopen the project.


After these steps, the Search bar should start working properly again.
