I was trained that taking a sequence, like an open or close that you create once, and insert it into your main comp sequence is called embedding a sequence.
And doing this created a single video and single audio file in the main comp and if you double clicked it would open the embedded sequence with all the video and audio files.
this latest update 21.1.0 does not work like it used to. i bring in a sequence into the other and the video and audio files fill the main comp sequence. If I wanted that I just build all those layers in my main comp every time, it looks messy and unprofessional.
was there a preference change? do i have to say keep my embedded sequences slim, tiny, small, or what?
I go to a previous project and i can replace the sequence with another, but i cannot bring in a new sequence into the main comp without it taking up all the video and audio tracks.
Hi Byers-Video,
It sounds like you need to Enable the button on your Timeline called, "insert and overwrite sequences as nests or individual clips". Let us know if that worked for you.

well i nested it, and then had to copy and paste it into my main comp. that is silly. why the change or removal of a common practiced feature?

Hi Kevin,
I have the same problem, but I didn't update (well, Win11 did it), but I cannot include another sequence into the timeline, I look for that damn icon (you don't mention that is an icon) but it didn't work for me, I reset the OC but still not working, but when I drag the sequence it includes all the items, as if I copy paste, I don't want that, the reason Im doing it is because I'd like to keep each sequence separated as a whole and when I include that in the next step have it in just one bar, without mixing things.
Where I can fix this?
Thanks in advance

Thanks Ann, I appreciate your feedback, I found that icon, thanks, the problem I got is this: when I drag the existing sequence to a new sequence works like a copy/paste, not like a nested sequence, I got the video, hope it explains better the issue:
Thanks in advance for the help

Your issue is source patching.
Dragging a sequence into another sequence is inserting or overwriting.
Need to be highlighted

Thanks again Ann, I tried that and it didn't work (I've tried before to write the previous post), so I did a downgrade and it did work! I think there's an issue with this version (remember I reinstalled Premiere), I think there's something that triggers this behavior, I'd been using this version with some projects using sequence within a sequence with no problem until this week.
Thank you so much, sweet lady, I appreciate it, you help me out.
