sine waves do not show in audio tracks

My audio tracks are always blank, solid green or solid blue, never showing the sine waves.

I'm on Windows 10.

Any tips on how to display them?

Are you talking about in the source monitor or the timeline window?  In the timeline window, have you tried increasing the height of the track and zooming in?    In the audio preferences, is automatic audio waveform generation checked?

Might try resetting you preferences.  If your audio levels are very low, you might try apply additional gain to the clip.

The timeline is my object.
Increasing height of tracks/zooming did not do anything.
Automatic Audio Waveform Generation is ticked...
However, having reset my preferences, hey presto, wave forms displaying!
