What is a surface dial, and if that is a computer, what is the hardware and operating system?

I just got my Dial today, and it does seem to work with Premiere Pro.  When you long-press on the dial to change your control options, the last option on the row is the Premiere icon when that application is running, and the dial seems to become a jog/shuttle controller.  Rotating the dial adjusts the speed of the shuttle playback, and short-pressing starts/stops real-time playback.

I'm wondering, are you able to bind the Surface Dial to change the scale value under motion control?

I use scale A LOT for my editing and having to click the motion tab, click the dropdown, drag the slider, then click my previous tab is very time consuming.

Hello sir, I have good news.

There is a mod that does this. I use it constantly. You just hold down a key like F1, then move your mouse around to chance the scale variable of your selected clip. I scripted it. You can use it for free! ...You just have to learn some scripting yourself, to get it working on your own system.

Okay, so it's not all good news.

But, if that's too much of a PITA for you, and you've got 200-400 bucks to spare, you CAN just buy the Palette Gear. Those dials support scale, rotation, and position in Premiere. They added those features at my request.

AFAIK, these are the ONLY two ways to easily and quickly change the scale of an object in Premiere.

Hi there!

I just received mine and been trough the web to learn a bit of on the way to use it and here is my feedback:

As you said ryandelap, Rotating the dial adjusts the speed of the shuttle playback, and short-pressing starts/stops real-time playback while you're on the Premiere icon in the Dial Menu.

The only way i found to do what you want  in Premiere is to set up manualy keyboard short cuts in Adobe Premiere that match the one you can find in the Dial Personal tools in: Settings > Device > Dial

From there, you can create in each app / soft the links you want TotallyToby

Hope it helps!

And please, if Adobe or Someone create something serious for Premiere or After Effect with that tool, hit me up!

I feel that is the next ultimate tool for me!

I've recently received mine too! Unfortunately I can't see anyway of adjusting the scale value in Premiere Pro with the dial.. Premiere Pro doesn't have keyboard shortcuts for it

If you have managed to get it working, please let me know how!

See my reply to Matt.

BTW, I also have a video that explains how the script works:

I have not been able to get mine to work outside of the almost useless jog function built in. I've been trying lots of different methods to get scrubbing and cutting to work with no luck. Even just mapping the already existing shortcuts in Premiere to the dial using the native microsoft settings didn't work. Really unfortunate that the integration is so bad. Not sure if it's on Microsoft's side or Adobe's side, but the dial works with everything else, so....
