I´ve read all the questions regarding this matter and tried them all to no avail. After I don´t know which update, my text based editing stopped working. I have auto select in-out enabled, it´s text based editing, toggle sync lock is set to normal, the audio track is highlighted and I´ve tried everything I could but I still can´t delete, ripple delete, etc. when text-based editing. I´m on Premiere 25.2.3 due to work but it should be working normally. I´ll add screenshots. As oyu can see, even though it´s only audio (it had graphics before which I removed just in case), it´s still not working, neither the keyboard "delete" shortcut nor the right click - delete. Any ideas would help a LOT. Thanks!

Hi eduardo,
I read about your case and it sounds a little odd. @Stan Jones, have you heard of such a thing? It may have something to do with the fact that this is an audio only sequence. Are your tracks targeted for audio? That may have something to do with it. Let me know.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hey Kevin, thanks for the answer! Sadly, this happens in all kinds of timelines. It started happening a long time ago and I just reverted to other editing styles but now that I really could use text based, this popped up again and I can't seem to find a way around it.
i'm not sure I understand what you mean with targeted for audio? I have them selected and have tried with selecting, unselecting, etc.
in the screenshot I show the audio track selection, but I tried adding a video to V1 track just to see if it worked and it didn't

What happens when you click Delete in the right-click? Does the button click register but nothing happens in the timeline?

Exactly. Only correct text reacts by letting me edit the text like usual, but clicking the button registers the click (by making the button clear in a click fashion) but nothing happens. When I press backspace or delete, nothing happens at all.

I do not see what is wrong so far. Are you Mac or PC?
In a recent thread showing similar problems, the issue was that it was a static/sequence transcription. But we know this is not your problem because a) we can see the "Generate static transcript" message and b) in that previous scenario, the delete etc right-click buttons were greyed out - yours are not.
And it is not your single audio track: a transcribed audio-only clip in a sequence behaves correctly.
When you use delete as you do, do you see a "Lift" or "Extract" in the history panel? Do you see the "Lift" and "Extract" buttons at the top of the Text panel? I assume yes since all your buttons are active. If you use one of those, does it delete the selection? If you use the "Lift" or "Extract" buttons in the Program Monitor, does it delete the selection?
Test further by closing PR, reopen and create a new test project. Add one clip. Right-click in the project panel and transcribe. Drag to the new icon to create a sequence. Does that sequence work correctly?

I´m on pc and Lift works, but extract doesn´t! To add to the bizareness, I used this same project from the external memory I was using in another PC and the tools work! It seems that on my Asus laptop something in premiere is causing this. I`ll have to uninstall it all and reinstall to see if there was some accidental tweak in preferences which caused this to happen. I doubt I accidentally changed anything, but after it working on the other PC it leads me to think there´s something wrong with the Premiere I have installed on the laptop.
Going over the problem again: All buttons appear but I can´t use them nor the shortcuts, but when I carry that same project to another PC (with the same premiere version, same extensions, etc. as I use both of them for work), it works fine. I`ll try uninstalling, although I have done it in the past to no avail.
Thanks for checking in, it does help even though we haven´t tried anything because it helps me know there`s something unusual with my case and I should check all the variables I can.

Thanks for the response, and congrats on your troubleshooting with the other PC.
Uninstall in fine, but I recommend saving some trouble by doing these steps first: reset workspace, reset preferences and clear cache.
