I've been having a few issues with the transcription engine. Namely, I'll correct a word at the beginning of a paragraph, click out and the change won't "stick" - the engine will do one of two things. Revert to the previous text or delete the word altogether and leave the three dots in brackets (...) for a pause. I have seen it happen in other parts of the paragraph, but less frequently. The behaviour is you see teh screen flash to the previous words (whihc it does even when it does update) but then never go to teh edited version.
This is a minor but a gotcha bug because you have to carefully watch the screen to ensure that it doesn't happen or you might think you've updated something, only for it to go to the client unchaged. (Don't ask me how I know that)

Hi @JOHN MONDO,
Would you like to keep this bug report open, or is everything going OK now? Let the team know.
@steveignite, thanks for offering your insight. See if updating the application or installing the beta might help.
Thanks,
Kevin

@JOHN MONDO I'd love to track down what's happening here. Could you share which version of Premiere Pro you see this in, and maybe also a before/after screenshot of the transcript so I can try and make it happen on my system?

John,
Okay, I won't ask!
This has come up in multiple versions, and I have been unable to replicate it. And as you say, it seems random. Be sure to update this post if you see it in the new Release 24.1.0.
Here's the only other report I could find at the moment.
@Kerstin Ebert was unable to replicate the last time.

Hi Matt - I managed to replicate this today but it wasn't working on captions - just working in the essential Graphics Panel. I decided to grab my mobile and video it. Unfortunately I can't upload video here so put it my dropbox.
I was working on the second to latest release as I noticed there's been a new release today. Sorry, don't have the version number because I just updated it (stupid). Rebooting Premiere stopped the glitch.

Dropbox worked fine. Generally, for a screenshot/recording to be most helpful, we need more context - Text panel, program monitor, EGP at the same time.

@JOHN MONDO Thank you! Those videos are helpful. For the case when you're working in the Graphics tab of the Text panel, if you then go back into editing the text does it have your changes? That would look something like:

Hi, I have just started having this problem. Never had it before. When I click back into the transcript box after editing it just contiunally reverts back. There's no way to edit it.

Restarted Premiere and working fine. Still, a very strange bug that it's probably good for you to be aware still exists. Initially it wouldn't even let me double click in the text box. I had to click the 'Edit active text" button to change it to edit mode. After that, it would let me double click - but as you can see, it wouldn't update the transscipt.

Hi Steve
I find the problem is it's random. I used the auto transcription yesterday and editing the text worked perfectly. I did it last week and for one particular video I'd edit two words, click out and the text engine would duplicate the sentence before it - repeatedly. I ended up with multiple copies of the same sentence. My workaround in this case was to turn the text int captions and I edit the actual graphics. It's not ideal because I prefer to start with an accurate transcription I can send the client but I can always give them the .srt as text. My computer specs are in the OP. Please post yours to see if we are using similar spec'd machines.

Thanks John.
I'm on PC, Windows 10. 128GB RAM, NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada, using version 24.3.0 as I had performance issues with the latest update.

Thanks to both of you for the reports and updates. Randomness is always tough.
Steve, you are exiting edit mode by clicking outside the box, yes? I assume you get the same result if you press ESC?
@mattchristensen These reports are odd, and I have still been unable to replicate.

Hi Stan. Yeah, I was clicking outside the box. If the bug comes back I'll try ESC and see if it's different.

Yes and I'd like to add to it with maybe a way to replicate? This doesn't seem to happen on single video timelines but i work mostly with multicam which may explain why it's worse for me. Here's an example I video'd today (apologies for the shaky cam but I just didn't have time for a tripod) and while it's not exactly the same bug it does seem that this is now happening across a couple of projects. This is the duplication error I've mentioned. To me this whole thing looks like a memory. problem.

FYI - same machine specs as my OP but now working on 24.5.0 build 7 and now on Sonoma 14.5 (23F79)

John, thanks for the recording. Nothing subtle there!
I assume a regular multicam strategy, in multicam monitor view, and source transcriptions of each clip. And you are editing in sequence view.
I'll try to test. The last multicam I tested, everything was behaving correctly.

Thanks Stan - please note this is a big project, 3 x 4K streams per multicam clip and probably a terrabyte's worth of clips imoported and I have had a memory crash while Premiere was open (I had another large project open which was probably a mistake). Put it this way - Apple's new "unified memory" is more marketing than substance. My machine has 32GB of RAM but Premiere was using 108GB! However just for sanity's sake, I have seen this happen on a much smaller project, albeit still multicam.

Hi @JOHN MONDO, and @steveignite,
What kind of source footage are you working with? Can you do a MediaInfo screenshot of the tree view?
Thanks,
Kevin

To throw a spanner in the works, I'm not using multicam. Just a normal sequence.
The footage is from the client - so not sure what kind of camera they're using. Not hi-spec. Not sure what a mediainfo from the tree view means, but this is the properties of one of the clips:

Steve,
MediaInfo is a popular app that gives a lot of info about files. This download link has all the platform options:
https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download
The "tree view" is the view that most often gives us the info we're looking for. Click "View" and pick "tree." lol.
Thanks for continuing to respond.

I have the same problem. Not doing anything out of the ordinary as far as I know. I'm macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 and Premiere Pro v 24.6.1 (Build 2).

Update: I my external SSD with the project from my mac to my pc that has a fresh PP install. The issue was the same. I found a workaround though. I did a re-transcribe on the audio file. Hope this helps someone.
