In so many ways PPro is surpassing Avid.  Track enable is not one of them.

PPro:

- Insert / Overwrite: Only the Source Track Enables matter

- Ripple Delete / Cut: Only Program Track Enables matter.

- Copy and Pasting: Only Program Track Enables matter

- Trims: Track Enables don't matter at all

- Add Transitions: Track Enables don't matter at all

- Extend Edit: Only Program Track Enables matter

Avid:

- Consistent logic regarding use of Track Enables across all contexts.

On this one, Avid, for all its dormant development, tone-deaf tech support, and weak rollouts, remains after all these years light years ahead of PPro.

I think the logic makes sense, when you use the correct terminology.

The left boxes are Source Patching.  These define what happens to clips from the Source Monitor.  (Insert/Overwrite)

The boxes to the right are Track Targeting.  These define what happens to clips in the timeline. (Lift/Extract)
