Transcript gets "stuck" at random word.

Premiere Productions 24.6, Mac OS Sonoma

I'm having this strange issue where I go to the transcript and search on a word or phrase and everything works fine, until I suddenly am at some seemingly random spot in the interview where one word is highlighted blue (in one case it was "222", in another it was "into"). The highlight isn't my in/out points, it's brighter blue. I can see those and this blue highlighted word at the same time. Once I see that blue word on the transcript, it will no longer go to the next found word. So, say I was searching on "dog" and had 20 results. I'll click trough until I reach the blue highlighted word and then the transcript won't move.

here is one of the mysterious highlighted words:

Then if I try to make in/out points and edit, I just get that damn blue word! The problem seems to occur whether I go to the Text Panel or not. I'm not sure if it is related to the text panel, it might just be reflecting some issue with the clip? But what could it be?  It seems like I can get my in/out points to work if I mark them two or three times. So strange. The transcript still gets stuck at a specific word.

I was editing with this interview yesterday with no issues.

Any help appreciated!

Can you see any In and Out points in the Source Monitor or Timeline? Do they correspond to the brighter blue highlight you're seeing in the transcript?

If so, does the highlight go away if you go to the Source Monitor or Timeline and choose Marker > Clear In and Out?

No.  It's not the in/out points.  I wrote that in my post.

This problem is not consistent.  Sometimes I go days without having it and then have days where I can't get rid of it.

Can you share a screenshot of your full application window next time it pops up?

@Ovidius9000,

I have not see any report of this odd behavior. And being intermittent makes it truly maddening.

I tested first in 25.2.3 and then 24.6.5. I am on Win 10. Nothing I did gave me any hints as to what might be happening.

The UI color controls changed from PR 24 to 25. I get closest to your blue in PR 25 when I change Edit -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Color Theme from my usual Darkest (accessible off) to Dark (accessible doesn't change it much). But I cannot get a match.

Use Shft+Right to select a word in the transcript. Is that the blue you see?

If I click in the transcript on another time, it is immediately deselected. If I click on the timeline, the selection remains, and the cursor in the transcript moves to that point. When it is correct, is that what you see?

The next time it happens, I would try resetting the workspace to see if that gets out of the odd behavior. For any odd behavior, resetting preferences is worth a try.

Is it only that one clip?

How are you setting in/out points?

@Alexander_DVA Any thoughts?

Stan

having the same issue - very frustrating... it has gotten 'stuck' on one word and does not follow the active monitor ...

My fix was to close the Text panel and re-open it - seems to be fine now.

@AnoraJ,

Thanks for posting your fix. What version of PR are you running?
